my sub randomly turns on and off in the middle of a song when it wants to. after messing with the fuse in the battery wire of the system, the problem goes away momentarily but returns. any suggestions??

Most good amps, (Like RF) have protect circuits in them to prevent damage. In this case, it sounds like the thermal protect circuit is working properly.
This circuit senses amp operating temperature and if it gets too hot, the amp will shut down, no bass until the amp cools. This would be true if you are hammering away on bass and then it stops for a time and then comes back on.
This is not a ramdom event. It's abusing the gear.
