i was wondering if its worth my money to invest in a EQ. i know what they are and what they are used for but ive never heard a system around here that uses them, i was just wondering if the changes from the EQ are highly noticable. aslo was wondering, about preouts. i just bought a pioneer premier750 cd player with 6v outputs, does that affect the amp at all, just a clearer signal?? if i get an EQ are they rated like that on there outputs too. would i need to find an EQ with 6volt or higher outputs??? thanx for all the help guys Replies (4) Swez on 09/17/2003 07:13:41 EQ can do a lot to improve overall SQ on the entire system. It will allow you to balance the system or boost parts of the frequency bands that are getting buried by a non-EQ'd system. This HU already has 10 factory preset EQ selections and 2 user selectable presets. Have you tried them out adequately to see if they meet your needs? I also see that it has a 3 band parametric feature with variable frequency sweep controls and "Q" (bandwidth) features. Do you need more than that? THINK Since you HU is a 6 volt output version from the RCA's, some outboard EQ's may not take that much input too well. This is easily solved by inline attenuation. However, the output voltage to the amp... from the EQ will be regulated by the EQ limits. Some can only do 2-4 volts while better units have EQ and adjustable line driver voltage outputs to match your amplifer(s) needs. Some better units have high input/output voltage capabilities. The cheaper ones do not. Audio Control has a very nice set of EQ/line drivers. They are not toys and don't come cheap either. Have a look at these: http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAudio/Products/InDash/index.html http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAudio/Products/Equalizers/index.html Swez PS I cannot live w/o EQ in all my systems. The HU preset EQ versions are better than none. Ie: Rock, Jazz, Classical etc... but give me a good 7-10 band EQ anyday and I'll be happy. ttocs on 09/17/2003 17:29:25 what he said.... compvr15s on 09/17/2003 21:16:29 i didnt know the cd player had all them settings, i just got it in the mail today, pretty fast shippin, ordered it monday got it wednesday, not bad off ebay. i just finished installing it and i probably will just stick with its built in eq. thanx alot guys i have learned so much from just reading replays that you two(ttocs and swez) write.
