Three stiff spiders, Dual tinsel leads, fatty coil

We will be doing about 2,000wrms per driver daily and 4,000-4,500w burps per woofer in Street B at shows.

Motor is 50lbs, and has Armored Dual 1.4ohm Coils

Seems such a waste to have all that motor, all that magnet and no surface area. They should be billed as 7" drivers after you take all that surround out of the equation.

It's amazing what they build. it's Car Audio Porn much like Wendy's Triple Quarter Pounder with Cheese is to food porn.

Like my girlfriend used to say, bigger isn't better....wait, I wish she'd said that THINK

GRIN GRIN GRIN

haha they're actually 18s that have been reconed into 10s

We are looking to pick up one more to get competitive in Street B

Was thinking the same as B when looking at these subs. The surround is so large, it shrinks the cone area and look at that huge dust cap too.
These must have 3" voice coils if not 4's?

Crazy... but it may work,

Nice Woofer Victor!!

I wish we had more vega stuff in my area GRIN

It has 3" Armored Coils (Resin baked and machined, DC patent pending) and is estimated to increase thermal power handling by 33% compared to the non armored lvl 5 Dual 1.4 coils.

we have the prototypes in those 10s and will be giving them a beating as the guinea pigs

Hey Drew,

Ask your buddies if they have ever tried flat wire for the voice coil winding process. Flat wire has been in use a long time in Pro Subs and tends to offer greater wattage, a more dense magnetic field and higher efficiency ratings on subs. (92-96 dB SPL@1W1m)

I don't think there are any patent issues to consider as this design has been around a very long time. Have a look at this:

those are mighty large.......... The biggest I had personally seen up to these was my diamond audio D6. I thought it was big until this post.

I know a guy that has some stroker 15s for sale.

We used to run Stroker 18s back in the day when they made novelty speakers that large & had the Dial-A-Dustcap.

I think CV is cutting back as they no longer have Circuit City & other mass market venues to move their bargain lines. Heck, I wasn't even aware they were still doing car audio. Talk about a blast from the past!
