hi i just installed an power acustik eq and ever since ive been getting real loud engine noise just wondering what the problem could be and if it could be bad rca plugs Replies (4) az4life09 on 04/6/2009 17:11:20 its a ford 2000 expedition swez on 04/7/2009 19:24:02 It could be several things going on here. Are you using the factory HU or an aftermarket one on this project? Also, do you have the model #'s of the HU and this Power Acoustik EQ device? Are there outboard amps in the picture as well? Say more, Swez az4life09 on 04/8/2009 00:09:59 the equalizer is a power acustik pwm-30m and i dont know the head unit model number if u really need it ill pull it out and get it and yes theres a t1000 rockford fosgate for my subs and a lil crossfire amp on my highs swez on 04/8/2009 00:30:34 The Power Acoustik PWM-30 is a Preamp/EQ processor. It converts HU's w/ 1 pair of RCA outs to 6 channels for F/R & Sub amp channels. The RF T1000bd is one strong amp. To power it properly, you will need a strong electrical system to support it. The engine noise is likely to be a bad grounding system between the HU/EQ and amplifiers used. In most cases, we start with regrounding the HU/EQ directly to the floorpan. (Bare metal only) That will knock out most engine noise. The other issues are often RCA's being located well away from the main power cable for your amplifiers and setting the amp gains properly.
