When you power two or more subs from a monoblock or bridged amp, how does the power get distributed? For instance, I am running a zx700.5 with the sub channel powering two Kicker CVR 12s into a 2 ohm load. If the sub channel makes 420 watts at 2 ohms, how is that power distibuted between the two subs? Don't get me wrong, because however it gets divided between them the subs take that power and make the most of it. My guess is it"s the ported encosure that really helps, because in my opinion they probably could take a few more watts. But it is one of those questions that I have been asking myself since I installed them. The Comp VR's are rated at 400 watts RMS per sub. So they are getting about 50% of the power they can handle. If a larger amp were used, (zx750.1) you'd pick up another +6 dB of bass. However, that amp draws almost 80 amperes of current at full power and electrical upgrades would be needed to handle 2 amps of this power range. Maybe if Kicker made a higher power multi-channel amp I would consider an upgrade, but I'm not really worried about it right now. The subs, tweeters, and 6x9s connected to this ampmake enough noise to get me a ticket any day. This setup has almost everybody in awe. Thanks for another lesson. Victor on 04/6/2009 08:14:11 by the way ... if your subs and speakers start rattling the trunk at the volume of 10 on the pioneer DEH-P5000UB. 1 : your car needs damping urgently 2: gains on the amplifier are seriously wrong. Victor... aone7706 on 04/6/2009 11:33:48 That's if I turn the bass boost up to the max. I generally won't turn it up though. The highs and mids are ear piercing, although it's probably just because I have the tweeter right in my ear (pillars between the doors). I have the sub gain set at what I believe is about 6 volts. But I have to admit the gains on amps 1 and 2 are to the max. But no distortion. I have gone up on the volume as far as 35 and the tweeters and 6x9s are just as clear as they wanna be. I don't know anything about competitions, I just know what I like. Good clean highs and mids, and a little SPL in the mix. The Isley Brothers sound great!!!!!!!
