I am looking to purchase a new stereo for my 1999 Toyota Sienna. My criteria for the new stereo is: must play mp3s, must have rear connection for USB drive, and must work with OEM stereo control installed on my steering wheel. So I found a clarion model (CZ209) that appears to meet my needs. I've also read in some places that another device is needed to make the OEM stero control work. Does anyone have any experience with setting up OEM stero control with a non OEM stero ? I don't have much experience with car stereo installs. I want to know if this stereo will be sufficient or if I'm gonna pay an arm and a leg to get all the necessary parts. Thanks in advance Replies (2) swez on 04/2/2009 05:26:38 Welcome to CK! Have you contacted Crutchfield.com for details on the features and harness hardware needed for this vehicle? Crutch has a wide range of brands you can trust and great Tech Support as well. They are not cheap and you don't have to buy from them, but they can tell you what HU's have the features desired and the recommended hardware/harness kits to buy for the steering wheel control functions. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CZ209/Clarion-CZ209.html?tp=5684 http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/020/020CZ209.PDF (Manual) Swez aone7706 on 04/2/2009 09:41:47 1995 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite Swez is right. I wanted to keep my steering wheel controls, but the module costs something like $100 from a local car audio store. At that price I figured I could just reach to the right for climate control, use the remote that came with the radio, and go left handed for cruise control. I didn't really look at it good, but it didn't look like it was very complicated to install. If you can install your radio yourself, I believe you could tie the module in (save yourself the labor fees). Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
