Here's a article from one of our Pro Installers on how to wire a new radio from scratch. If you have questions, just ask and we'll address them. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t36 Swez daniel_c_culver on 03/29/2009 09:01:39 thanks alot that helped me very much. cuz c i already went and found which speaker wire goes were. lol i only have 2 speakers in my dash. i also have another question would be a good idea if i mounted 2 4 inches on my hatch. cuz i have only 2 speakers. i looked at the holes and i should be able to. and i looked and theres a nice route i can tuck the wires into. swez on 03/29/2009 10:03:08 Sure, why not if you have the space or want rear channels. Just realize that 4" speakers will have severe limits in frequency range for music. If you like mostly Talk Radio, then 4" speakers will do the job for cheap. Consider low cost, Coaxial 6x9" ovals in prefab boxes if you desire better fidelity in the lower octaves of music. No, it won't pound out big bass, but these will bring up the lows that are missing now. I believe they carry such enclosures at WalMart and speakers as budget/taste permits. No need for high wattage speakers here either. (25 watts Music Power is plenty. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3607_6-+x+9-+Wedge+Box+-AKA-+69TT%2C+69C-.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8080_RCA+RC6918+-Priced+Per+Speaker-.html What do you think? Swez daniel_c_culver on 03/29/2009 13:25:19 i think i should go with wat ur talking about. my car came with oem 4 inches in the front with the boots all disenigrated. i then went and bought some pioneer 4 inches for now. as soon i hook up the stereo i will put in my 12 in and my xplod amp. just to like give it a lil thump. swez on 03/29/2009 19:22:46 If you really want to step things up a notch in the front, check out your door panels and see if you can install larger speakers in the door panels. (5-1/4" - 6.5" Coaxials) Most door panels have access pockets to service the window mechanicals and we can surface mount speakers in those location. There are several ways to install speakers in the doors. One can either flush mount speakers to the door panel covers or use a thin piece of wood over the access hole and cut out a hole for the speaker grills that often come with the speakers. What say you? Swez daniel_c_culver on 03/29/2009 21:00:27 ya i was thinking about that i might try that. thanks for all the info. this site is VERY helpful. swez on 03/29/2009 21:58:45 Thanks! We try to help folks that come for advice and have been at this for almost 10 years at CK and as a hobby. This is how we relax, help others learn and pass on "news you can use"! These dash speakers are probably small format and practically useless for today's music. There's no sense in replacing them if door speakers are an option. (Probably a real nightmare to swap out new ones in the dash anyway) There are several ways to do a general upgrade and get much better sound for this car. Yes, you can just remove the old dash speakers and install 2-way Coaxials in the same location. However, if one has to dismantle the whole dash to do this, door speakers make a lot more sense. Comments? Swez daniel_c_culver on 03/29/2009 22:07:19 with my car i just had to pop a little cover and take 2 screws out and then the speaker came out.
