with ipod adapter on rear of deck wont slide in due to bracket in back hitting right on the bolt so not logical to cut into that. What about the older style blazers that the dash kits pushed it out little do they have those for the cobalt? tips suggestions. 06 cobalt ls. sony gtx510 deck with ipod interface adapter.

Looked at that HU model and see it has an AUX input jack on the front face panel. Why not use that?

Becuase the sound quality is A. CRAP b. Clutter in the vehicle. and C. does not charge the ol' ipod. Thank you for the advice though but not trying to use the aux jack.

OK, the spacer plan is probably your best bet. Try calling our friends at Crutchfield and see if they can find you a spacer kit that provides the relief space needed:
