Ok I'm new to all this car audio stuff. Well I have a JL 10W6V2 in my car. If I'm not mistaken it is a 4 ohm speaker. Now all I need is an amp. I'm looking at a Hifonics brutus 1200 watt amp. Is this amp too powerful to push my ten inch JL. If not what size amp should i get?

Welcome to CK Forum GG!

This sub is nice with adequate power and a matched enclosure, it will thump nicely.

This is a 4+4 Dual Coil sub and you have two wiring options: 2 or 8 ohms. The amp you'll want is about 500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms and a Class D MONO amp.

What kind of $$$ is in your budget for the amp, wiring and various hardware.

Also, what HU are you using right now? (Aftermarket w/ RCA outputs or a factory system?)
