lanzar opti500x2 for my mid-bass speakers? how about that? Replies (4) diminga on 03/1/2009 10:49:16 toyota Ipsum 1999 swez on 03/1/2009 11:08:26 Welcome to CK diminga! This amp is big for a reason. It's designed for high powered subwoofer applications. The current draw on this amp is HUGE!!! (Fused at 160 Amperes and no stock electrical system can handle that) This one? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16457 You say midbass speakers? How many and how large of a system do you have now? Say a lot more about your plans, Swez MrBrownstone on 03/1/2009 12:57:28 If that amp can actually live up to 500Wx2...it's only designed for subwoofers---and Class D amps are going to be a better use of your money. 1000W of heat at 45% efficiency will mean both massive current load and that just isn't a worthwhile use of your electrical system. What speakers are you planning on using? Detail for us a little more about your system. swez on 03/1/2009 13:19:45 Yeah, I think this is a real power sucking amp. As you say, Class A/B and fused at 40 x 4 = 160A at full power (1500 Wrms bridged at 4 ohms or 750 x 2 @ 2 ohms/channel) Depending on the frequency range you will be using, it's usable for Midbass or Sub applications. However, if you go MB, you'll need a LPF add on @ 300 Hz. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
