I have seen the mtx. The rep brought one in that came apart to show the inside of the speaker. It is built like a tank, but I have not heard it...

JL makes a fine woofer in the W7, but I have yet to see or hear the new MTX sub mentioned. Sounds like ttocs saw a DOA version of a dead sub... but that's not much to go on either. Some very good options out there if you can share what you are hoping to do here?

High SQ and SPL and how much amping power do you have to throw at your sub(s)... budget, type of enclosure and fav moosic?

Well there truly is no best. Here are some subs that I would look into that are along the same lines as the W7 but cost less.

Elemental Designs- A series www.edesignaudio.com
Adire audio- Brahma www.adireaudio.com
Resonant Engenieering- XXX www.respl.com
Image Dynamic- IDMAX <-- can be bought at www.sounddomain.com

They should all give you almost the same performance as the W7 for less money.

Actually, a few mentioned in that list are very good subs.

Said you have run through a few subs already with not so hot performance. What amp are you running for subs now? This will help us give you subs in the proper power range.

Also, are you using sealed, ported of the dreaded BP sub killer?

i don't have any subs right now thast why i am buying some new ones. before i had 2 audiobahn flame compressions which i was running off of only 2 coustic 401db amps until i bought a better one. then one day on stopped workin and the other one the voice coil came apart from the cone. before that i had 2 mtx 8000s which where stolen. i ran all of these out of a sealed box.

Well, any amp can destroy a hefty sub any day by overdriving the amp into excess clipping. When the amp starts to clip heavily, the subs get large surges of voltage and current that send them into spasams and they die. This is very common in low power sub amps that are pushed too hard. (yes... can even blow a 1000 Watt sub this way)

Tell us more about the amp you plan to use with the new subs OK? A web link is good. A .pdf file link is even better as they usually have the install and operation manuals in them as well.

Got that info handy? Is this the amp you have now? http://www.mobilcaraudio.com/catalog/item/322608/202324.htm

What are the fuse values on this amp? Looks like a pair of 20A?
