between a Hifonics BXi1608D amp and Soundstream PCA1000D which amp would run more efficient with current draw and actual output??

Both are stable at 1 ohm loads and the power ratings for each are going to provide solid RMS power to a reasonably efficient sub system at 1 ohm loads.

When you demand quality, SS is worth the extra $70.00. The SPL difference between the two amps is marginal and inaudible to the human ear. (A calibrated Termpro will show an extra 1.5 dB more bass on the HiFonics amp) But, the current draw on each amp needs to be considered too.

Thanks for reminding us about SS amps. Most don't know that brand well and how deep it's history goes as a top tier amp choice.

ive owned a few of soundstream products and havent had any problems ever with them their products are very reliable! ive owned the T-4-12 subs, as well as their PCA1000D and RW-12 subs.

yea im getting ready to sell my subs and was just trying to figure out if i should sell the Hifonics amp or keep it instead of getting the soundstream amp...

the soundstrem PCA1000D amp is very reliable, ive had it before and it never overheated, and its a perfect match for the sub im planning on purchasing soon..

im going to purchase the soundstream T-5-12 sub here in a week or two, i had the older model T-4 sub and loved that sub..

That's a very good price for the T-5 sub. Either amp will do the job if you are accurate on the gain settings and use minimal bass boost.

Did you have to upgrade stock electricals to feed the present HiFonics amp? (Big 3 done too?)

i havent upgraded any electricals yet but i dont push the system too hard so i have minor dimming. im going to do the big 3 upgrade when it starts to get to warmer weather

this is my current set up

HU - Eclipse CD3000

Front speakers - Memphis 6.5

Rear speakers - Kicker 6x9

Subs - alpine swr1242D

HiFonics BXi1608D

Im planning on buying this.

HU - Clarion MAX385VD

Nice package in the plan. Are you planning to use that Kinetic 600 as your starter BAT and 1400 for the amp? Between the two BATs and the "Big 3" upgrade, that should work out well with the PCA 1000D.

How do you like the Alpine SWR's? Do they meet or exceed your original expectations?

yea im going to use a kinetic 600 for a starter bat and the 1400 for the amp, and if it comes down to a HO alt one of the local car audio stores can order one since theyve put one in a car like mine before.. (depends on how much they charge the HO alt..)

i love the SWR subs they put out great spl and still have pretty good sq as well!!

im just giving them to my friend for cheap because hes been working hard to earn money for bills n everything and has been trying to piece a system together for a while so im going to give him my system and get a new one.

What a buddy! CLAP

Did you go sealed or ported on the Alpines? They are solid SQL subs, but more SQ in small, sealed boxes or 0.85 cf/sub. Ported, It's more like 1.7 cf/sub, more efficient at port tuning range and still decent SQL.

The T-5 is moving into the high performance SPL type sub. Like most large motor systems, (3"-4" voice coils) this sub is low efficiency so it too needs lots of power to get it to shout. Are you going sealed or ported on the T-5?

i went with ported on the alpines but im thinking about going with a sealed enclosure for the T-5

the sealed enclosure for the T-5 would probably be around 1.0ft.3

min is .75ft.3 optimum is 1.0ft.3 and max is 1.5ft.3

i can get the PCA1500D for about $40 more

it would add another 500rms at 1ohm.
