been busy this weekend sound damping and installing my front speakers. I am happy to say that it was worth the effort as I can crank it up as loud as I want and it is still clean and clear. After the damplifier pro in the doors the sound like wood when you knock on them. I have had my hands on almost every brand and this stuff is by far superior..........

Nice touches there Scott. It's nice to have to spare time to do such projects. Make the most of them and keep the install skills sharp as they may be a fallback source of income until this tough economy turns around.

PS I like how your temp gage system turned out! CLAP Slick!

I have nothing but time at the moment and need something to take my mind of the lack of jobs I am finding. I had most of the equipment in the closet and if I didn't put it to use I would have to put it up for sale shortly. I am going to take a roadtrip back to indiana in a couple of weeks to see if there are any job options there. I would like to have the system done by then so that if I need to go back into audio that I have a rolling resume that they can listen and look at to see what kind of work I can do.

The temp gauge worked out nicely. After taking it for a drive to tune it and enjoy it I was able to get it up to 111 degrees. The fans in the amps blow air out and basically towards my shoulder and I swear I could feel the heat of it..... It was also neat to see that the temp dropped almost 7 degrees after cracking the window and allowing some air for it.

after some short tuning I threw in a live sting cd of a concert series that I saw a couple years ago. When he was wailin on roxanne I got goosebumps just like at the concert, mission accomplished.

Job hunting is no fun in our current market situation. A guy with your skills in car audio, may find it hard to find a F/T gig that pays the bills right now. Car audio is not a must have consumable. Finding full time work will be a challenge, no matter where you go.

One option to consider, find a part time installer gig that either pays cash or less than 50% on the books of your UE benefits. Most states laws vary, but it seems common to collect full UE benefits and work P/T for under 50% of your net UE benefits. (Check that one out in your area first) That nets full EUB +50% more and many singles can manage that if they live lean and mean.

The way things are going right now, top economists are "saying" this landslide is going to last for most of 2009 in most parts of the US that have been hit hard already. That seems a bit optimistic at the moment when so many are out of work and plans to extend UE benefits past 26 weeks are the norm. Saw a similar cycle in the mid-70's and 12-15 months of UE were offered in hard hit areas.

Check the published UE numbers for IN. They are probably above 7% and will soon jump to 9+% in mid-2009. However, that's just counting those who can still collect UE. Those who cannot collect and were off the books, double that %. Yep, it's that rough right now!

Have you had your fill of spam and eggs & $1.00 menus at Mickey D's and the like? I sure have! LOL
