i had on older model pioneer radio on my 94 ford ranger. my friend recently gave me his old pioneer 6800, and i had to buy a harness to fit the new model. after i got the harness i took the old harness off and tried to splice the wires together on the new harness. Initially the Radio turned on and showed a preview of the features on the unit. I installed it back in the dash and relized i forgot to hook up the radio antienna plug. so i took it out of the dash and when i hooked everything back up and was ready to put it back in the dash it wouldnt turn on. i tried rewiring the harness again and checked all the fuses but still no luck on getting it to work again. The grounding wire is connected to a good ground Wires 1 & 2 are often fused, (At the fuse panel or inline fuse holder) and there's also a fuse in the back of the Radio. Check them all. If they are all good, then one of these three wire splices have failed. Check your splices on these with a gentle tug. If one comes apart, resplice and test the system again. (Poorly crimped connections may look good, but one may have failed) Low amperage fuses may look OK visually. But when tested with an ohmeter or simple continuity test lamp, you'll know if the fuse is good or not, regardless of appearance. What part of the country are you from? When splicing wires, it's good to use crimp type barrel connectors or bell crimp connectors. (Just wrapping wires and taping them off is not always effective as there's no mechanical strength that way) Good luck on your efforts, Swez Scrandal on 02/21/2009 17:32:56 I just bought a Kenwood KDC-BT742U. I don't know if this is what your problem is but it said about the Kenwood, " It has a demo screen on initial setup and it MUST BE TURNED OFF or the radio would not power back up. Check your system for the demo screen. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
