Does anyone know of a source for user manuals, repair manuals, or even hookup information for older amplifiers? I found a "Road Gear" 80 watt amp (RGCA 1100) and a "Road Gear" 250 W (?) RGMF250 amp. (Garage sale - cheap.) I've had no luck with Jensen, Recoton, "Road Gear" or whatever on the web. Any suggestions on a web site with the manuals in PDF format, or the schematics, or can someone show the connector pinouts? ...or can someone copy and send me the manuals/schematic/hookup? Thanks in advance! - Jim Replies (5) Swez on 09/14/2003 08:01:40 Try finding Road Gear web site or a 1-800 help line. Then contact them with your product information and see what they can provide for you. Road Gear is sold at WalMart, so you may have to examine a package there and get the details of how to contact them on web or phone for the details you need. I did a google search and netted nothing useful... Swez ttocs on 09/14/2003 12:23:42 what do you need to know? JimTheTechie on 09/14/2003 14:27:23 Thanks for your help! Questions - On the 80 W unit: 8-pin connector is marked "High Input and Speaker Output" Which pin is which? On both units: What voltage would be needed for "High Input" to get maximum output without clipping? What voltage for "Low Level" with "Level" set to the most sensitive? (This might be listed in the specifications - which I don't have.) On both units - does anyone have a schematic? (I'm curious about the design.) Yes, I tried the web for "Road Gear" and Jensen and Recoton and other combinations I forget - nothing there. Does no one repair these units? ttocs on 09/14/2003 16:26:33 generally no. They are almost cheaper to replace then repair. I have never heard of anyone fixing them before. That is stange that the speaker output is alongside the high level input. But regardless if it is not labeled, I don't know what to tell you. You could probably figure out which is input and output if you take it apart, should not be too hard, these amps use a simple design. Sorry I can't help you more.. Swez on 09/14/2003 17:59:05 Ahhh, maybe can help a bit more with new data... High Input side voltage range in most amps range between 0.5 to ~7.0 volts. The polarity of the inputs, may be marked on the casing near the plug... a close look may tell. If not a trip to Walmart will give you more details. Most pigtail plugs I have see, are configured the same and universal fittings used. The RCA inputs usually range from 250mV to ~4.0 Volts (some premium amps, a tad higher) Schematics for same... call a few techies you might know that repair amps. They may have some additional inputs for you on same.
