hey hopefully some one can really help me with this problem!! well i have an 06 charger with 2 12 jbl subs and a 2ch jbl crown amp, and a 4ch alpine amp, and a 1 farat cap. i have checked all the wiring and its fine and it has worked great fro the passed 2 1/2 years it just suddenly started doing this crap to me when i got home from iraq. Now when i turn up my system either my high's will go out if not my subs and some times both and i know it aint the tuning, and the amps are not going into safe mode and they are not shutting off and i know it aint the amps cause i have changed them out to test if that was the reason and it aint.
the lights also keep dimming inside the car and im thinking it might be the battery im in L.A. so i dont know i would really like to know what u guys think it is or can be! thanks and i appreciate your time and knwoledge thanx!!

Are both amps grounded to the body in the same place?

yes they are grounded together.

That would be my first place to look. Rework that connection, make sure it is clean contact.

Where do the amps get the sound source? Is this test done with the car running?

This car has the battery in the trunk and a #2 gage line back to the ALT. The car body is the ground. Your stock ALT is 140A's and enough to power 1,500 watts. (Yes, we've had several Charger/Magnum guys come for help and these cars are a challenge)

The first thing to check here, are the battery and alternator doing their jobs? These are simple tests that most good autoparts stores/shops will do for free. If either the BAT or ALT cannot sustain enough power to feed each amp properly, what you mentioned will happen.

Another thing to consider, what HU are you using right now? This may have some bearing on the situation if you went to an Aftermarket HU and it was not grounded properly.

Say more,
Swez

PS Welcome to CK and thanks for your service to this country in Iraq.
