So I've been building for a team mate and his 2002 Explorer. We had a db drag/ bass race this past weekend anybody guess what db we hit? (On Music not tones) GRIN ![]() ![]() -Drew Replies (8) admin on 02/11/2009 08:16:29 Wow. looks great and looks like it would hit but I really don't know how to guess.. COFFEE ttocs on 02/11/2009 09:46:32 sounds like a fun game if you told us what kind of power he was pushing through it. It could be 15 db if he just had it hooked to the radio or 155db if he had 2k watts to each sub. So my guess is between 15 and 155, what do we win? newB on 02/11/2009 11:57:25 nice scott GRIN max spl was 152.2 and average spl after 30 seconds of music (Bass Race) he managed 150.9 ![]() Official "Rollin 50s Club" GRIN GRIN GRIN GRIN If you've never been on a New Termlab then you have no clue how brutal it is to get good scores. Preston (team mate) never lost the whole weekend and beat out cars with (4) 18s and 11,000wrms and (6)18s and 30,000 he has (2) 18s and 6,000w @12v @1ohm+ rise per amp we are VERY happy with it as of now :) -Drew swez on 02/11/2009 12:05:25 A nice edgy look to this design and don't ya love working with quality plywood for the enclosure? Baltic Birch, 11 ply is the cat's meow. It cuts great, minimal voids in the plys, light weight and looks beautiful for furniture grade HT sub projects. Yes, BB is expensive, takes a little practice to stain or polyurethane, but with classic dato joinery, they look beautiful. Nice work Drew, CLAP Swez newB on 02/11/2009 16:15:54 Thank you swez- and my favorite part is how LIGHT this box is! two people one hand each can throw it around. Other builds (already mentioned) were heavy enough to sag suspension in the SUVs that carried them -Drew MrBrownstone on 02/13/2009 15:05:48 Nice construction. When you learn about how DB meters work, you may change your design. I hit 151.9db with two 12" Audiobahn AW1200 woofers in 2000 and had 1000W provided by Rockford's BD1000 speaker placement and maximizing the design can yield you more than all the power in the world. Great job, keep improving your design. MrBrownstone on 02/13/2009 15:06:42 PS cancellation is the reason most people with 10,000W systems don't get any farther than with 2000W. Funny, huh? newB on 02/13/2009 17:22:12 yup!! i agree 100% the larger setups were not designed very well and had cancellation. What mic was that score on its really good! when we put his car on another mic (non TL i forget what it was) he did a 160 GRIN but all the bass racers only go by the new TL score on the window so thats all i really care about. -Drew Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
