i am installing a pioneer deh-10mp stereo in a 1993 chevy lumina. i have a wiring harness made by metra autoworks from advance auto parts. my question has to do with the wire connections. do the wire colors on the harness and radio match correctly? the harness has all colors plus a few extras. the instructions for wiring harness say nothing at all. the instructions with radio are vague. Replies (2) ttocs on 02/1/2009 19:06:32 that makes it as easy as it seems, connect yellow to yellow, red to red, ect. Make sure to insulate all the wires you are not using to keep from grounding out later and blowing fuses. If you deck has an orange illumination wire(orange) be carefull that you connect it to the correct dimmer wire(orange) and not the dimmer ground(orange/white) if your hrns has one. You will also need an antenna adaptor, you can get that at the store as well for $10 swez on 02/1/2009 23:06:00 Here are the color codes for your Pioneer HU and the adapter harness does the rest. All HU's have 2 power wires and a ground. One power wire goes to the ACC/IGN circuit. The other power line has a constant +12 volts to retain memory. The typical color scheme: Red is ACC/IGN (Power only when key in ACC or start/run modes) Yellow is BAT or Constant power for Memory presets Black is ground (Bare metal ground is better than the harness ground) The four speakers are paired in like colors: Gray & Gray w/ black stripe are right front (The black stripe is Neg) White & White w/ black stripe are left front Green & Green w/ black stripe are left rear Violet & Violet w/ black stripe are right rear Orange is ILL wire (Most use the manual control w/o this connected Solid Blue is the power antenna Blue w/ White strip is REMote turn on for outboard amps (if used) Hope that helps, Swez PS when joining wires, use crimp on caps or the blue barrel crimp connectors as you work.
