If you only need a +12 volt lead and ground for powering the circuit, consider using the back up lamps in your rear bumper for this. Then all you need to do is snake your video cable from the camera mount to the monitor.

Makes sense?

kevgan on 02/2/2009 22:56:36
yes I can do that swez but my cable is a special cable that has video pos and neg all in 1 cable and with all other cables ran from stereo and amps space is limited but if all else fails i might do that thank you for info

I think my books go up to 1999, they are a bit dated.

the only place I could gurantee it is like swez said at the lamp.

Okay, this makes things a bit more challenging since your power and video signals are in one harness. I see 2 options here:

Option 1: Go to a dealership and ask what the wire color codes are for the backup tail lights and where the harness is located. Then, you can use wire splicing connectors to do your connections. (T-taps or Stake-On connectors) That's a pain in the butt.

Option 2: Extend the power leads so they are long enough to run back to the rear back up lamps in this vehicle and splice in just as you would for trailer lighting pigtails. (#16 gage wires are adequate)

Either method will work. Option 2 is your best bet and easiest to do.
