Hi, I have a Yamaha Rhino with 2 PhoenixGold compoment and a 8"sub. I then run either a MP3 or a Sirius unit from the 1/8'' headphone jack to a gain adjuster for the volume. I "had" an ols MTX 4300 until I lent out my Rhino and they tried to wash it while listening to it. It fried the amp. It actaully held up for a long time until this incident. I'd like to replace the amp with something inexpensive. Perhaps a marine amp, or used, or ? I'd like some feedback on where or what to buy. Thanks Bruce Replies (3) swez on 01/27/2009 14:11:42 Welcome back 55! I think you have a good start... but a 4 channel Marine type amp might be a best option choice if this is a 4 ohm sub. A 2 channel would be fine for the PG's, if the sub was already powered by an internal amp. (That was not mentioned) Have a look at this option: (Great price too) http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-MX350-4-MARINE-AUDIO-AMPLIFIER-AMP-4-CHANNEL-350_W0QQitemZ390022659780QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item390022659780&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/206/2067MX3504.PDF (manual) With this amp, the front channels will power your PG's and have active HP filtering. The sub can be bridged off the rear channels and use the active/passive LPF to control the sub. One thing the manual is not clear on, is if the front and rear channels both have separate HP/LP filters. An e-mail or call to Kicker.com will confirm your options. Comments? Swez Tuned55 on 01/27/2009 15:35:29 Hello Dave I think this is the sub I have. I'm going off of memory now. I'll pull it out to verify before I make a purchase. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_21&products_id=30 I recall it is a dual voice coil. BTW I should have my 55 back soon! swez on 01/27/2009 18:32:54 If it's a 2+2 DVC, perfect match. If it's a 4+4 DVC, can still be used as an 8 ohm woofer, but less power from the amp is all.
