Am not familer with that brand and features, but many of the better CD/DVD players use 5.0 surround encoding on DVD's. Each channel is coded for good separation, channel integrity and a real sense of spacial separation audio in each field of sound. (FR/FL/RR & LR)

The sub channel is MONO and a composite of all 4 main channels, but the deep lows only. That is possible as bass in omni-directional. (We can hardly detect where the bass is coming from)

On quality HU's, there is a subwoofer output channel menu for volume, frequency range and a crossover filter. If your player does not have these features, the only way to get that is via a subwoofer amp with a remote boost feature.

As for ILL, it is connected to the dash dimmer. When the headlights are on, the lighting setting are changed to a preset level for better viewing. Some HU's have a menu for changing light output manually on the viewing screen and the ILL wire is not needed.

Here's the setup manual for this model. It's only a low budget 3.0 version with 3 discrete audio channels. Have a good look at the menu settings so you know what can be done with the limits of this player:
