Multiple car amplifier question

Ive got 2 car amplifiers (one 4 channel and one 2 channel). The 4 channel amplifier (Fusion PP-AM8004) has 6 speakers hooked up to it and the 2 channel has a sub connected. The head unit im using is a kenwood KDC MP735U (3 amp outputs – rear, front and sub).

My problem is that my 4 channel amp only has 2 inputs; rear and front and a output (ill use to run RCA cable to other amp), therefore the sub output from the head unit wont be connected to either amp. Will this mean i wont be able to adjust my subwoofer using my headunit and only by using my 2 channel amp settings?

If so, I was wondering if it is possible to split or run two remote wires to both amplifiers from the kenwood head unit? So that I could run the sub output connections to the 2 channel amplifier and not use a RCA cable from between both amplifiers. (this way i can adjust subwoofer levels on head unit)

Any advice would be good, thanks

Yes, that is correct. The sub outputs on your HU need to be wired to the sub amp to use that function. To use that feature, you'll need to run another pair of RCA's. The subs have their own dedicated channels this way.

If you already have a remote feeder line to the 4 channel amp, you can simply run a small gage jumper wire to turn on your sub amp too. Most HU's can support 2 devices off the REM trigger circuit w/o problems.

Sry I'm new to installing car audio, what is a small gage jumper wire? Is this the same as simply running two separate remote feeder lines from the HU to each amplifier?

the remote feeder would run from the HU to one amp, and then run a small gage wire from that amp to the other amp...

when the HU turns on it will then turn on both amps

Right! A #18 gage wire is all that you need here to jumper from the 4 channel amp to the 2 channel REM line.

Both amps will get a "Trigger Signal" to turn on both amps from the HU. There is no need to run a 2nd longer wire from the HU REM to get the job done.

Did you have a chance to wrap this one up yet? Does it work out as stated?

I ran a remote feeder line to my 2 channel amp and than I ran another wire from the 2 channel amp to my 4 channel amp. This is powering my 6 new speakers and sub woofer. It works perfectly and sounds absolutely awesome GRIN! It sounds at least 3 times as good as my factory speakers in my 2003 Mazda Protege. Thanks for advice and quick response

Jacob,

You bet and that's good to hear.

We tend to lead guys toward clean, balanced and louder system performance. If it ain't clean and crisp bass, mids and highs, it's not there yet.
