Hey ttocs I have a stock amplifier in my car (JBL premium sound package) and if I turn the HU up to about 13, I get extreme distortion. I would like to bypass the stock amplifier and I see I have 2 options. 1. Run new speaker wire. 2. Find the stock amp and bypass it. Which method would you recommend? If I should bypass the stock amp, where is it? How would I get to it? If it would be easier to just run new speaker wire, I could really use some help on how exactly I'm supposed to do that. like getting door panels off, etc. Thanks so much I really appreciate your help. It is easy on my mustang. What are you going to power the woofers with then? swez on 01/21/2009 15:39:27 Hey ttocs, I sent him to you on this part. I covered the other issues already in another post. Car: 1996 Ford Thunderbird (JBL Premium Sound) * 6x8" JBL factory speakers, F/R * 2 Coustic CF1044 10" subwoofers in a slot ported custom box. (rated 400w RMS each, 4+4 DVC's) * 1 Pioneer GM-5300T 760W 2 Channel amps (2 ohms/ch for subs) * Alpine HU CDE-9846 (Very limited features on this older model) Do you think these are 2 ohm speakers, powered off a factory amp somewhere in vehicle? I can't for the life of me remember the specifics of that system. The amps are either in the trunk or under the seat? EIther way they do make a ford premium bypass harns kit. All you need to do is unplug the input and output on the amp and then connect the hrns that comes in the kit to the two hrns's and you have bypassed the amps. alienascii on 01/21/2009 21:06:28 Well, before I read this post I ran new speaker wires for the rear. I am amazed at the difference! the speakers are 6Ω. Even with only 2 speakers it sounds so much better than it did before... Now I need to work on running new speaker wires to the front speakers, I have no idea how to do that, any ideas? Thanks! ttocs on 01/21/2009 22:31:48 if you do the way I said with the integration hrns all you need to do is plug it in. swez on 01/21/2009 23:15:43 Ttocs, what is the bypass harness P/N, vendor and where can he get one? Thanks, Swez ttocs on 01/22/2009 10:45:35 It was either metra or scosche, I can't remember the model # but I do remember that it was called a ford/jbl premium system bypass hrns. swez on 01/22/2009 15:29:00 Ah, does this look familiar to you? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4449_Scosche+FDK8B+-+FDK8.html Swez ttocs on 01/24/2009 22:04:55 that is for a more recent version of the hrns for newer vehicles. It is probably going to be hard to find online i would think. swez on 01/24/2009 23:48:32 Huh... any other suggetions for where this guy can find what he needs and be 100% sure it's the right harness kit?
