k, heres an easy one for ya, i want to run two type r dual 4 ohm subs to an alpine pdx1.1000 amp. (Thats a 1 channel 1000 watt amp). Using series wiring to 8 ohms. I'm unclear on how to do this because my speaker inputs are as follows [+- +-]. now i saw a guy run a jumper from left negative to right positive, then left positive and right negative went to amp. Is this correct!!!!!!!!!!!!! THNX

Fairly easy if you understand wiring. With that amp being 2 ohm stable while producing the same wattage into 2 ohm and 4 ohm your "simple" solution is a series/parallel configuration:

You could wire positive to positive/ negative to negative, but that will present an 1 ohm load which is too low for that amp to handle.

One question though: Which Type R subs do you have? 10", 12" or what? Hopefully they are a good match as well in power handling so this will be a effficient setup.

12" subs- 500 Rms 1,500 max, and i think runnin them on a 4ohm load to the amp. Which will be puttin out about 1170 Rms. I guess if the type r cant handle, the type X can,1000 Rms, 3000 max. But hey one more thing, is there an equation or something to figuring out wattage handling power of capacitors, i.e. 30 farad caacitor can handle ???? watts
