ok. so i hook up my amp and subs last night. (audiobahn a6004t, and 2 infinity 120.3se 12s). it was kinda late by the time i had finished hooking it up, so it was dark out. i basically just turned the car over, listened to see if the subs were going, and then went to bed.

here's my problem: my amp is only sending a signal to the first bridged set of wires. i've tested the first set on the second sub to make sure it wasn't the sub or the wires inside the box. i am not getting any sort of power from the second bridged set. is this a setting somewere, am i retarded, or is the amp defective???

It sounds like channels A/B are getting signals and passing to the sub, but channels C/D are not getting amped signals to the other sub? (did I get that right?)

If you bridge this amp down to a 2 channel for more power, have to follow the bridging steps in the manual of off the wed site. There has to be a signal to each of the 4 inputs to the amp. If not you will have a problem here.

Also, check the gain setting on the channel that is not working right. Both gains can be set at 2.0 volts to start, and tweak from there.

Finally, try swapping the input RCA's to see if there is a good signal to all RCA lines the onput to the amp. If you do not get a signal on the good channel when swapped, the RCA feed is missing.

Swez

PS Good to see you back on the board again... why did you choose an Class A/B amp (4 channels) amp for your sub application. Most use Mono Class D's or high current 2 channel amps that can do 2 ohms when bridged??? The 4 channels are usually best for interior or interior and sub applications.

Just like senor Swez stated.

1 - Verify bridging methodology
2 - Check gain settings
3 - Switch RCA input connections to rule out signal loss

4 - There could very well be a setting for 2/4 ch operation. Look around, see what you come up with.

5 - I doubt you are retarded, or you wouldn't have asked that kind of a question here.

6 - The amp could very well be defective, and if you go through all of the above options, and still come to the same point, then you can address functionality of the amp itself.

swez:

picked the four channel because if i ever decided to upgrade to bigger subs, then i could use this amp as a kick ass internal speaker amp. (planning for the future! :) )

tray and swez:

1. i verified the bridging deal. i have it set right, but to no avail...CRAP
2. i checked the gains. i set the gain for the non-working channel to the max and still recieved no response...CRAP
3. i switched the rca's in every possible combo. (including the output rca's, as i've bought products that have been misslabled by companies before; no avail)...CRAP
4. the setting for the X2 bridged mode is just stick the wires in the top holes of the amp(respecting positive and negative charges), and screw them down...triple checked it anyways; no avail...CRAP
5. sweet deal. not retarded. that's a plus
6. i think ur right. i'm gonna have to contact bsless.com and see what can be done about a return/exchange.

i noticed that they no longer carry the a6004t amp...CRAP. this could spell me having to screw around with audiobahn. messing with major corporations is not fun. i've done it with sony before(palm pilot issues...OS incompatibilities...), and it was not a pleasant expirience to say the least. oh well. looks like i have some b*tching to do on monday. i won't be able to do anything about it saturday or sunday, cuz i'm going to go see clemson game and spend the night up there with a buddy...AFTER PARTY AND HOT COLLEGE CHICKS. ahhhhhh, hot girls....always calm my nerves....

Too funny on the weekend plans and cool... the 4 channel is your stepping stone to other upgrades later.

Sounds like you have a bad amp channel here. The set you are having trouble with, do either of the channels work at all when not bridged?

Retarded??? Hardly... had enough lnowledge to get this far and troubleshoot all we suggested... so I see that as a non-issue. Silly boy...

Is the amp still inder warrantee? If yes, hope you can get a swap from your original seller. If not, may be stuck on sending the amp back to Bahn for repairs or exchange. A few calls will tell you the best route to take.

If amp is not under warrantee, a good local tech may be able to chase down the problem much faster than Bahn can tuen it around. I have heard Bahn is very slow on repair turn around times in the past. Hopefully, that has been addressed by now as this was back a while.

Finally, you may want to consider a sub amp soon as you may be w/o an amp for several weeks. Perhaps, some careful shopping is in order now so you'll have things in order whe the 4 channel comes back.

Swez

PS One last check you can do before you start the return process... verify that all channels are working properly (or not) by using a CD Walkman or similar with patch cords. The Headphone jack of the walkman has enough output to drive an amp to some degree. Just pick up a patch cord that has a headphone jack on one end and a pair of RCA jacks on the other. Set gains to maximum sensitivity for this test and control output volume by the volume control on the Walkman. (or similar audio device)

Connect the Walkman to unbridged channels and have a few speakers handy to see what channels work or not. This will verify that you have signals going into each amp channel and determine which channels have little or no output.... Good luck and keep us posted OK?

ok, i called audiobahn, and told them the situation. they were all: well, we're in CA blah blah blah, call the website you bought it off of and see if you can't get them to do an exchange first. i was all like: k...i guess you'll be hearing from me in a day or two then. bye.
i then sent an email to bsless.com, were i got the amp from. i am now waiting on a reply. hopefully they'll let me just take it in somewere locally and have it repaired and cover the charges. they say they have some sort of repair shop at their location...but they are in NJ. i am located in sc. i already paid shipping on this amp once, and would like to keep it that way. plus, if i'm shipping this thing anywhere, it's going to be to CA to be fixed by a certified audiobahn guy, so that my warranty isn't eaten alive. agh, i feel like i'm going to get hosed...

bsless.com is giving me some bs. they are trying to get me to go to audiobahn for the repairs but audiobahn won't do the repair unless i bought it from an authorized dealer. but the plot thickens. ONLY authorized dealers are ALLOWED to sell their products. awesome. i dropped that bomb on bsless and i am waiting for a response from them. i kinda have a feeling that they might cave. this has potential to be very funny. as, if audiobahn gets pissed, then bsless will die and be forced to give me my money.

Swell... but the plot is not over til the "fat lady sings".... meaning, guys can buy large quatities of amps from any vendor and sell them as unauthorized dealers.

The original owner (bs FOR less) may be the verified warrantee holder.... not you, so you'll have to get some cooperation from BS to get warrantee support from Bahn.

Good luck as this may be a lot of BS before all is said and done.

ok. i finally got a straight answer from bsless.com. they said they'll do an exchange for the defective one. i inquired upfront about the amount of time it's going to take, and it's probably going to be a 3 week turn around. i would never do business with this company again. i vote that since you guys have a positive seller list, let's start punishing the shady businesses. start a bad seller list. BSLESS ON TOP!

Punish by letting you wallet speak for your point of view. The low-ball seller is not always the best choice... you can vote and help us vote with our wallets.

yea i understand now. now i don't think you originally understood :) . i meant start a bad sellers list on the site, so that other people don't get screwed. this site's all about helping people right? why not further help people out?

how is he a bad seller? You rarely get a warrenty when you buy on the net, he has the right to tell you that since he is not an authorized dealer, that he cannot help you, and to send it to cali... Seems to me he is being a good seller, and doing you a favor...

DINGALING on 09/16/2003 13:50:24
he caved when he found out that i knew that audiobahn would PROSECUTE him for being an authorized dealer. in my mind, that's a bad seller. i shouldn't have had to get audiobahn's backing...

Sticky subject here.. the bad e-tailer list I mean. If we did post such a list and our facts are not complete or skewed... opens the site and and our own reputations to liabiity issues we'd best leave alone.

See, there are always 2 sides to a story... yours and the guy on the other side of the table. Usually, the truth can be found in the middle of the muddle.

In your case, you were able to negotiate a reasonable outcome with the seller... but dealing with unauthorized dealers can get pretty sticky or very ugly. Am HAPPY to hear that you did reach a good compromise here... but as is typical of most businesses, we have to push them harder to move in our direction.

Some on line dealers like Parts Express, Crutchfield, The Zeb and many others do a great job supporting thier clients. But you pay a bit more for these excellent services. A small e-tailer can sell for less as he has less overhead costs... but may not manage the support issue well between you and the Makers, as he has low purchasing power. That's the 2 edged sword of this transaction... not just buying a product... but getting support as well.

In short, you did get a fair deal on this one in the long run. But you may wish to consider other dealers for future purchases. Good push on this one... you won this round and I hope you win the match as well.

Good luck,

Swez
