as i am trying to help out my charging system. i found this RF 50F cap on ebay. right at this time its going for a really good price 20ish bucks. but the olny thing is that it doesnt come with a charging "thing", to charge and discharge it? also does a cap ever go bad? should i go in this direction to help out my charging, for the time being. link below for the cap

im looking tp upgrade my charging system little by little, when spring comes is when i will be playing my stereo loud. as its cold here and dont turn up the radio alot. im running 2ga at this time, i have some 1/0 around but its too cold to put it in. i have a small batt (500cca i think) now but i am looking into getting a yellow top.

i am running my 2 amps. 1 is for the doors. the other is my mmats D300HC. its modded from the factory to run at 1ohm, from what i was told it does 1200 at 2ohm and around 18-1900 at 1.

any info would be great, if i forgot anything just ask. thanks

caps can go bad just like any other part and in general in the last few years it has been recognized that they do not do as much as they advertise. Caps store voltage, but amplifiers are current hungry not voltage hungry so they are not what many people still think they are.

Don't forget shipping is $16 so now you are up to $36 IF nobody else bids. I would spend the $40 on a bigger battery and a big 3 upgrade before I ever considered a cap.

so i should do a bigger battery insted. does it matter if i do a regular batt or should i go optima? i dont really run the radio unless the car is running.

how can i get more current? i cant do a bigger alt right yet, i have a 130A now. new about a yr ago. my car is a 97 and i dont really want to put a new alt in it. my car is not worth alot. so it would be waste.

one more Q? when setting your gain on your amp. what does "Set the gains with a DMM and aim for 45volts." mean ? how is this done and what is it?

found it again....sorry http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t57
ill have to look into this in the next 2 days, as i have the days off. in doing this what does it sound like ?

sorry i should have read down the tree and see that someone else was talking about a cap also.
