I have purchased a Kenwood powered subwoofer, model# ksc sw10 to add to my system. I have previously installed a receiver dpx303 and speakers (2 pairs) KFC-1682IE. I'm not quite sure how to install the subwoofer. 1. do i need to remove the entire dash and center console in order to get the wiring under the carpet? how would I do this? 2. Since i can use the rca line-in jack, according to the instructions I only need to connect the a yellow wire to a fuse box (?) and a blue-white wire to the accessory line if I don't have a power control terminal. What does this mean and how do I accomplish it? 3. Any recommendations as to how and where to mount the subwoofer? Thanks very much. Replies (2) ttocs on 12/29/2008 22:08:38 you will need to get to the back of the radio to get to the rca connections. I am not familiar with the matrix to know if you need to remove the consol or not. You will need to run the wires under the carpet, run the rca and remote wires down one side and your power wire down the other. 2.) the blue wire will go to the back of the radio to the matching blue remote turn on. I think this is what you might mean by power control terminal, not sure what else it could mean. 3.) you need to find a place where it can be securly mounted and will not get in the way. The rest is up to you. swez on 12/30/2008 02:30:06 Wow, this is one tiny sub package. (38 watts RMS) to a 5x7" woofer and air couples to a 5x7" passive radiator cone. It should help with some added lows, but very minimal unless you mount it under one of the front seat inside the cabin. The new HU has 4 RCA output jacks but no sub channel output. (F/R stereo pairs) It's doable off the rear RCA channels and use the provided remote to control sub output. The rest is like ttocs said. You'll have to pull the HU out of the dash, connect your RCA, Remote wire to amp location and then tap for power and ground. This amp draws a very modest 8A's at full power. So, you won't need large cables for power and grounds. (12 gage is fine w/ 10A inline fuse) That should make for easy power line connections to your internal fuse box. (ACC/IGN slot) If you don't have a manual for this combo, grab it here and print it out and study as needed: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/113/113KSCSW10.PDF Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
