Hi,

All,

I am getting a new car and I decided to go with an whole new system. A new Alpine dealer just opened up close by with good prices on items.

Could you tell me if this combination of stuff is good.

Head Unit
IDA-X100 HU with the PXA-H100 Sound processor.

Mids - Highs

2 pairs of SPR-17S 110wrms
Still to decide which amps to use
1. 1x MRP-F600 4x 100wrms @4ohms
OR
2. 2x MRP-F300 Bridged 2x 150wrms @4ohms

What do you think over power or under power?

Bass
1x SWR-1542D 750Wrms
on a MRP-M1000 Amp 1000wrms @ 2ohms

Do you think this is over power the speaker too much?

Thanks
Regards

the sub amp is a good match the type-r shouldnt have a problem handling the extra power..

get the 4 channel for the mids/highs. I agree, the sub should be fine with the amp mentioned. You should be very happy with this setup.

Agreed cplkittle! I like the 4 channel better. It's close enough in power that going over that much won't net much advantages. Once you chop off the lower frequencies (say 60-80hz), the 100 watts will be plenty strong!

Hey Thanks,

Do you guys think that its two much bass for the mids or its ok?

Thanks again

2 x 15" subs might be too much. 1 should balance out nicely.

One 15" would indeed do well. Are you building the box yourself?

The MRP-M1000 is a solid amp, but it also draws a lot of current, (+90 A's) when pushed hard.

The SWR sub series is a solid and time tested product. They are not the most efficient sub on the market, but offer a good blend of SPL output, yet remains clean and well-controlled within normal operating parameters.

If you find some "cuts" a bit bass heavy, or excessive light dimming at night, just dial back on the bass EQ off your HU. Otherwise, plan on extensive electrical upgrades to feed this amp.

I would personally want such a system ( specially with your choice of HU and the imprint) to lean towards SQ if it was in my car...

I would balance that system with

2 x SWR-1022D... with that Alpine MRP-M1000..

In either a ported or sealed enclosure, depending on your taste for bass...

Mine would be a sealed ... those 10"ers in a sealed enclosure will be compact and crisp, with impressive transients and great tonal balance....

and with almost 800effective watts, those subs can pound if you want them to...

Doing the Big 3 will Help.!

Thanks all,

I am changing my alt to a 200amp one, I'm putting a 2.0f cap on the bass amp, and also the big 3, I think power should not be a issue for now.

and yes Grdevs24zero I am building my box my self, I am currently running two xpro 12" soundstream on a 1000wrms amp in box tuned at 32hz and it sounds great, I think I'll tune this 15" the same way.

Victor, the alpine imprint audio processor sounds great, I mean really great, I fell in love with the demo car at the alpine dealer. yes the demo car was loud but not as loud as I thought it would be but it sounds really good.

Thanks again.

Dude, ditch the cap. The 200A alternator will do fine. A capacitor is merely a bandaid solution to a stiches problem, but why worry about bandaids or stiches when the wound is already carteruized???

cplkittle on 12/28/2008 01:39:05
If you haven't bought the cap, buy a battery instead.

All,

Just a update I got all the stuff, except the subwoofer enclosure that should be in this week, people the SPR 17S are a good set of conponents, I have them bridged on a MRP F300 each getting 150RMS, it is very very clear and it sound like it could take some more power, it does not peak at any certain frequency, and it is flat and true to the source, the only thing though it really sounds it could get louder.

But great buy.
