CD add on for 2000 Lincoln Towncar

Hey there folks,

I found this one at Crutchfield for the Lincoln my parents just bought. Way cheaper than OEM and wondering if anyone has any comments on this unit?

Looks like a winner with all the proper patch cords etc., for direct OEM HU. The HU is Ford, not Alpine version, but does have a CD function button on the HU for external inputs via cable links.

Comments?

I've never used USA Spec CD changers, but I did find quite a few sites that carry the same changer you're looking at.

Did a google search for SCD-F100.

Sounddomain has them a bit cheaper.

Audio-n-more does as well

Hey thanks Tray... I did not even think of a google search on my own stuff... Do it all the time when researching things here on the forum.

Funny huh... "tunnel vision" sets in when we get too involved in our own projects I guess... being more a systems and troubleshooting guy these days, I wonder how much install work is involved in this preocess? Comments?

Again, thanks for the links! CLAP

Well, it's in and all works well. Mounted the CD Changer in the trunk (cave) and ran the main control harness on Driver's side and fished the pigtail up to the Factory HU.

This thing has a massive adapter plug in set and stuffing it deep into the pocket was a bit testy... but with persistance, finally got all of it refitted.

Ford's are so much easier to work on these days! Once I got the HU removal clips, all went pretty smooth. Took about 3 hrs in all... but I did have some clean up once the rear seat was lifted out.... coins, toys etc., so that made the job a bit longer.

My hat is off to the Pro installers that do their work well. Not fun for old guy like me and 6'3" climbing around the inside like a contortionist!

300 bucks for a 6 cd changer's pretty steep, to me...

Yeah, it'd be a bit steep for me as well... but since it was for my parents and they wanted a factory fit and finish, this was the best choice. Works great, looks factory and they are thrilled...

The dealer would have charge over $800.00 for the same thing installed... so to my folks, this was a bargain.
