strange distortion

Hey guys i wonder if anybody can help me out. my sound consisits of 2 x calibra 300w rms subs, a rather small 50w rms calibra stealth amp, jensen american pro splits in the front and 200w kenwood 6x9's in the back and jvc head unit.

i have just bought a new car and have transfered the sound from my old car. my sound played like a charm in the old car but now when i turn the volume past 30% the 6x9 and splits that are running from the head unit start to have strange almost "cancelling" type of distortion, but the subs running of the amp play fine.

i have increased the gauges on all the cables but the distortion persists.

help please!

The first thing i would check is your wiring, make sure you are in phase.

Have you double checked the polarity of the speakers? If they got reversed, bass would distort sooner and over all sound would be out of phase. This maybe your problem. Try reversing the +/- on the speakers and see if there is a difference.

Interior speakers run off the HU and subs in trunk? Are the 6x9 speakers well isolated (enclosed or sealed off) from the subs?

If not, bass waves can mess up your 6x9's in rear as the cones begin to break up from sub bass waves.

Also, try fading from front to back with sub amp off to determine what is distorting as you use the HU amps only. If the system sounds clear on front channels alone, rear channels alone , but distorted when all are playing, change polarity of rear speakers as they are the easiest to get to.

Once you get the F & R speakers right, add the subs and see what you get. You may need to reverse the polarity of the sub amp wires as well.
