Had this song burning through my memory for the past few week or so. Can't shake it or let it pass w/o sharing the profound mysteries it speaks about.

Many here, are too young to know it and its' real meanings. But, I ask that you listen closely to this public anthem from 1972. Did he get it right on the nail head or not?

Here we are, 36 years later and do we see the parallel's or what? (I sure do... "Bad news on the doorstep"...)

The older guys here, will know this one well. For the youger crowd that is not familiar with it. Listen carefully to Don's choice of words and references.

"Miss American Pie" refers to the better days of time past.

"The Jesture" refers to gloom, doom and mayhem from Satan and his evil forces.

"The Day the Music Died", refers to a time when things are dark, full of dispare and out of control. (Are we there yet?... I believe we are very close to that one now)

Anyway, just listen and try to imagine what Don saw coming in the future. The cut is above average by the standards of that period. But Don's message is prophetic of things to come.

"Bye-bye Miss American Pie"... (Dream's dashed)
"Drove my Chevy to the levy, but the levy was dry"... (Drought crop failures and famine)
"The good ol Boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye"... (Dull the senses)
"Singin' this will be the day that I die"... (We'll parish without help)

Wake up America!!! Before it's too late!

Hum, did a little more digging and found this video about what this song was really about. I was a teen when this song hit the Top 10 charts. So, listen and watch this version and see if it makes sense to you or not.

As I watched this videography, it set a different tone. But one fact is clear... "If we don't study history and the past, we are doomed to repeat it".

Again, take a hard look at this and where we are today. We may have different interpretations and points of view, but the end results are pretty much the same... "Learn from the past, see the past mistakes and look for better options as we process it all.
