Hello Everyone! Back for Christmas (Again) I’m looking for another upgrade. What I’m wanting is additional 2 Rockford 12” p2 Subs to the one I already have. My Current Setup: ----- Single Rockford Fosgate 12” p2 Dual Voicecoil Sub - http://sonicelectronix.com/item_8754_Rockford+Fosgate+Punch+P2D412.html Rockford P300-1 Amp to power P2- http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=120&i=575P3001P&c=3&tp=115 Infinity Reference 5010Cs Components- http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Infinity-Infinity-Reference-5010CS-Component-Speaker-System-5-1-4-2-Way-with-Soft-Dome-Tweeter Alpine F250 Amp- http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=120&i=500MRPF250&c=3&tp=115 4 AWG wire with 100A fuse (105A Alternator with Stock wiring) What I plan on Adding: ----- 2 More Rockford Fosgate 12” p2 Dual Voice coil Sub Alpine MRP-M650 Amp (Suggested by Swez) - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8QaSSpnOyme/p_500MRPM650/Alpine-MRP-M650.html Infinity Reference 9623i 6'x9' 3-way Full Range Speakers (Rear) - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1G8OsRDGvM0/p_1089623I/Infinity-Reference-9623i.html A Sub Box (Most likely Custom) Eventually a new battery The Total came out to $529.97 for the Upgrades (Without the Sub box) (I’m not sure how much a custom sub box (Nothing special) will cost and if I can do it) Couple of Questions: • Is it possible to use the Infinity References as the rear fill in? Would I run it off the head unit or the amp (If possible because the 5010c’s are already running off of it) • I have no clue when it comes to building a Sub box (Should I take it to a shop?) • Is there anything I need to change? Replies (12) iXvXi on 12/2/2008 04:23:41 Sorry..I think im all done editing Hopfully thats enough information ( If not let me know ) kirchatndftbl on 12/3/2008 09:10:35 these boxes might work depending on the size of ur trunk and the amount of space reccommended for the sub ported http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7852_Sonic+Sub+Box-+3SBVD12.html sealed http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7585_Sonic+Sub+Box-+3SLD12-3.8.html swez on 12/3/2008 18:38:40 The game plan changes dramatically with 3 RF subs mentioned. (Mostly power consumption and sub configurations) The Bass Engine you hope to rev up, will not optimally match without some careful planning, electrical mods and a perhaps a new sub amp as well. If you use the same sub, (Add only 1 more) add a 2nd amp to match the one you have now will work! If you want 3 matching subs, we have to look at how to most efficiently power them and look at enclosure design as well. Question: Are you running a sealed or ported sub box now? If running sealed now, that part of the system can be optimize later. Finally, if you really want a 3x12" sub system in the future, a new box design and a different amp are pending. To feed the new amp, expensive electrical upgrades are manditory. Say more, Swez Ash on 12/4/2008 19:58:54 A good question should be "what is your ultimate goal?". What exactly is wrong with what you have and what do you want to improve? Three 12" subs is a lot especially if what you already have hasn't been maximized. A few simple changes my save you even more money down the road... iXvXi on 12/11/2008 16:56:41 Yeah im not looking to purchase a new alternator so i might settle for 2 p2's.. If changing down to 2 subs what would be the best amp?? and ill just purchase another box swez on 12/11/2008 17:17:10 To get the most out of the RF sub(s) mentioned, consider a Class D amp that is 1-ohm stable or add a 2nd matching sub, amp and enclosure. (Each amp power 1 sub) The sub is not too expensive, but to get 500+ watts RMS @ 1 ohm would be a good plan if you can make a good deal on the Alpine sub amp. (It's not 1-ohm stable, but still a great amp) The other option is to sell the RF sub, keep the Alpine amp and buy a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D212's. (That's what I would do) The Alpine amp can handle 2-ohm loads) These RF subs are 2+2 DVC's and when wired properly, you'll get the full potential the amp can deliver. You can even use the present RF sub on HT if the right amp is used. Comments? Swez Ash on 12/11/2008 17:24:39 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9927_Memphis+16-PR1.500.html# iXvXi on 12/11/2008 20:42:46 Okay lets say I sold my p2 sub along with the p300-1 and the box.. I could purchase the Memphis 16-PR1.500 with 2 of the Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D212's and of course a new box?? or should I keep the 4 ohm p2 and buy another with a class d amp? kirchatndftbl on 12/11/2008 22:51:26 if u buy 1 more dual 4ohm p2 sub and the memphis sub as well as get a new box it will match up good. wire the subs parallel to the amp for a net 1 ohm load swez on 12/11/2008 22:51:44 Nice find there Ash! CLAP This would allow you to add one more identical RF sub, to the mix and off the RF amp mentioned before. (500 RMS@ 1 ohm and a great amp purchase as well) The RF amp mentioned before is not a true Class D MONO amp. As I read it, it's actually a modified Class A/B/D amp that draws way too much current for the power it delivers. (Sound is good and clean, but not strong enough I suggested the Alpine -D650 as it is a true Class D amp and has a long history of solid performance at 2 ohms. But since your sub is a 4+4 DVC, it's not the best choice due to power handling with this amp. The quality of Memphis products are top notch as well. Why settle for less when prices are so low righ tow? Swez iXvXi on 12/13/2008 11:45:37 okay this is what i came up with the information everyone gave me (Thanks) Memphis 16-PR1.500 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9927_Memphis+16-PR1.500.html# 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D412's ((1.79 cubic ft (Ported) )) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8754_Rockford+Fosgate+Punch+P2D412.html Sonic Sub Box: 2SV12 (GRAY) ((3.4 cubic feet)) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7509_Sonic+Sub+Box-+2SV12+-GRAY-.html And i plan on selling the Rockford Fosgate p300-1 amp and the old sub box 1.-- but as far as the rear fill in's go, what would be a good choice since I wouldnt be able to run the 6x9's off the the amp? or should i go off of the 14 watts RMS that the head unit sends out? 2.-- My front component on the left side ended up breaking..the dome on the woofer had a slight tare in it and without knowing it got worse and now raddles.. Is there a replacement woofer that i could buy for both sides to make them even or do i need to replace the whole components? (Infinity REF5010CS) http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Infinity-REF5010CS Many Thanks! swez on 12/13/2008 17:20:50 Good choices here bud! The amp, subs and box are all a good fit. It would be even better to know the port tuning frequency. As for amping your full range speakers, it would great to give them 50 watts RMS per channel. They'll come to life like never before with the extra wattage. Yes, just replace the fronts with new when your budget allows. (This is bargain bonanza time for people with money to spend) As for rear fill, consider the 2-way coaxials (Infinity Reference REF9612I) They are rated at 100 RMS, but 50 will be just fine.
