you will need a 12v power supply that is capable of powering the amps current capacity. Getting one that will handle a small amp can be pricey, getting one for a big amp real expensive. They sell these power sources are radio shacks or hobby stores.

It depends on how basic or advanced you wish to go. As ttocs mentioned, there are power supplies available, but depending on the wattage output required, they can get pricey.

If you have a small amp, a car battery and a trickle charger will get the job done too. The battery provides the current while the charger tops off the battery and up's the voltage too.
Tip: Just be sure to avoid over charging the battery when not in use. It will shorten the life of the battery.
