00 GMC Sierra 1500 factory alarm in stereo unit?

Hi all, virgin post, please be gentle. On my 00 GMC Sierra I'm pretty sure the alarm is built into the head unit. I bought an aftermarket Sony CDX-GT820IP CD/MP3 player and 5 channel amp and speakers to replace it. Can I save the alarm system or does it go out the window with the factory head unit? Also, on the back of my new 3 pre-out Sony head unit there are 4v. front and rear sp. pre outs +/- on the back of the unit and the sub pre out is on a pigtail coming out of the back of the unit with two black plugs. How do I wire one 10" sub? (5th ch.) By the way I bought the proper wire harness to do the install.
Thanks,
Jim

why do you think the alarm is in the radio?

I know nothing. I ass/u/me/d it, since I had to punch in a code on the head unit when I replaced the battery. Any experience with my truck or chevy trucks around the same model?

Make sure you have any neccessary modules needed to bypass any Onstar or Bose features you may have.....

The alarm will still work without the factory head unit, but if you add a reote start or alarm, you will need to disable it...

It reads Theftlock on the head unit. Do you know if I need a module knowing that? Thanks. Any ideas as to wiring with the two rca sub pre-outs being both black on the sony head unit?

Should be Ok, Things like delco's theft lock make it to where the factory stereo will not work if stolen. Except nobody steals factory radios.......

The sub RCA's are not colored because they provide a mono signal, so it does not matter what color cables you plug them in to.

Hook up your front and rear RCA's to a set of Y-splitters, with one male and two female plugs. Plug the two males into your front output from the deck, your front and rear cables into the 4 plugs you have created with the splitters, and run the subs into the sub outputs. The front and rear will plug into their respective channels (channels 1,2,3 and 4), and hook up the sub cables to channel 5.

Any more questions??
