hey everyone..need your valuable advice. I'm setting up a new system for my HONDA ACCORD 2007 and need a good sub. The brands available to me are JBL, PIONEER, ALPINE, KENWOOD, SONY. The JBL GTi series are too pricey for me, over $500 here(SAudi Arabia). Howz the JBL CS1204T TUBE SUB 250W/1000W RMS/PEAK..im getting it for 100$?? What kinda amp woud i need to drive it?? Among the choices available i think JBL AMPS are the best. IM also getting Infinity KAPPA693.9I 3 Way Loudspeaker for the rear and Infinity KAPPA60.9CS Car Component System for the front. I've heard a lot about the JBL GTO755.6 II 560-Watt 6-Channel Power Amplifier is it ok for my setup? Otherwise I will have to get 2 amps ryt??? Please advice on which amp is the best. Thanks Ramone Replies (8) Victor on 11/9/2008 20:03:00 That JBL amp is a pretty solid amp, ample to fulfill your 4 ch and sub power requirements.. the choice of Infinity components and rear coaxials are good too... I would suggest one change.. and that is the JBL bass tube, CS1204 ... i have personally never liked its performance, so don't even stock it for any install. Since you have alpine available in your region look at the Alpine SWR 1222D , get a 1.5 cu.ft ported enclosure tuned at 35Hz built .. and you will really like the bass. ' we could help you with the enclosure design and dimensions. what ya say? Victor... ttocs on 11/10/2008 02:38:46 I kinda think there is an aquired taste with the infinitys myself as the tweeter in them tends to be a little too loud for my taste. I know some people that could not imagine it any other way and love em.... cool, another international member. Welcome to the club ramone on 11/11/2008 01:11:51 I'm GAME!!!! Alpine Type R it is. One of the main reasons I chose the tube sub was because of the $100 price tag. Moreover, no one over here knows how to design a decent sub enclosure, and I didn't know enough to design one myself. So, didn't want to risk it. Since you're gonna guide me, that's not a problem anymore. Thanks man, highly appreciate it. How do we start?? We going to use 3/4'' MDF, right?? About the 6 channel JBL amp, will it be too much load for my battery?? Please comment. @ttocs : I don't have many options available to me. And I think among the choices, infinity is the better one. What say?? ramone Victor on 11/11/2008 01:43:54 The infinity's use different types of metal alloys for tweeters, hence they are on the brighter side..audiophiles usually don't prefer metal tweets, but with some careful tweaking and eq'ing you should be able to mellow them down smoothly... these speakers are good value for money.... go ahead with them you will like them... no the JBL 6 ch should not be much for your car's electrical system. There may be some minor dimming of the interior lights. You could go a bit soft on the gain settings and all should be fine.. yes... 3/4" MDF is what you would be using, make sure its water resistant MDF ... give me your mail id.. shall mail you an enclosure plan and section... i hope you are good at wood working, or could get a skilled carpenter to do the job.. Victor... ttocs on 11/11/2008 12:00:27 where are you at? Just curious. ramone on 11/12/2008 01:09:21 my email id is ramone.dominic@gmail.com. @ttocs: I reside in Saudi Arabia. ramone.. I have a few doubts, I was trying out the RE Audio Enclosure calculator http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html and just fed the design dimensions, gave me a totally different result, 1.05 cu. ft. at 47.25 Hz. How come?? Is it a different design? Should i put anything in the port?? PVC?? Hope you don't mind my silly queries. Please comment/ ramone.. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
