This looks like a low-power, sealed box woofer that is best used in pairs and a Class D amp that is 2-Ohm stable @ 400-500 watts RMS or a single sub in a compact sealed box with a 2-channel amp, bridged and a modest 200-250 RMS @ 4 ohms.

Consider the sealed box size in this range. (0.65-0.80 cf per sub) The larger the box, the deeper the bass, but lower power handling too.

wow wow wow
i am impressed with this type of enclosure ,well i havnt tried it with the 10 in sony but i gotta say the single 8in kicker powered by a lil ol 300 watt visonic mono amp , i find it hard to beleive 300 w comes from such a tiny thing but it had my truck thumping ,reminds me of the old days(well not so long ago but i have gone for more sql these days). am thinking of going for a 24 in tube making the cubic footage 1.02. as it is experimental not too worried about sub destruct.i wonder why more companys or even diyers dont use this style more often, it really is cheap and simple and as far as i can say sounds great.
well i hope everyone is keeping their heads above water , i know i was laid off and well small towns are great ...untill a recession hits...custom flooring doesnt seem such a necessity in these times.. but theres always unemployment insurance.
thanks for the help though i do appreciate it!

Sure, round tubes are nice as they are easy and cheap to fabricate. They come in a range of diameters and no corners or edges to fuss with either.

Cutting the end caps to a tight fit are the biggest challenge. (Inner ring and outer plate/panels is all)

Glassing or the use of epoxy based paints will add strength to the tube and you can use a little polyfil to dampen rear bass waves if desired too.

Sorry to hear you were laid off just before the holidays. Lots of companies are hard pressed for enough work to keep a large crew on hand.

If you liked the job and the boss, (And he liked your work) ask him if he would take you on as a sub-contractor and call you in on a periodic basis for cash under the table. In most cases, one can still collect unenjoyment compensation up to 50% of their benefits w/o any penaties or loss of benefits.

If not, look around for a PT job to suppliment your time and cash flows. As long as you don't go over the earnings cap in any given cycle, you can still collect full UEI payments.

the boss was cool enough to insist i went to UEI ,though they prefer i find work and the most they pay per week is 240$. some rather large jobs should begin in Jan but waiting is the hardest part.there will always be sidework tho so i try to be positive.voted early yesterday, that was good, i expected to see more young people but perhaps they are waiting for the 4th,mostley senior type citizens and it was packed, this should prove to be an interesting year to come to be sure.it has given me time to spend with my youngest daughter (8) as well ,she has shown new interest in archery softball and dragons , we may not be eating steak every night but we are happy.
thank you mucho !

Went through a long spell of beans-n-weiners a few years back. It was a shock to be sure, but poverty builds character and is a good breeding ground for creativity too.

Just a thought, learn to live well below our means when needed. It's not fun, but when the good times come again, we have learned many valuable lessons about wants VS needs.

Bargain hunting can be a lot of fun with the right mind-set too. (A cool game of cat & mouse) One mans' trash is another mans' treasure! I grew up in a frugal family, got on the fast-track for a while and spent like no tomorrow. Oh what a fool I was when the getting was good.

After 10 years of eeking things out as a 40-ish guy, what a great set of lessons to learn...

1. Live below our means
2. Have 3-6 months living expenses in the hole
3. Learn to live a credit-free lifestyle (Except on a mortgage)
4. The mortgage and living expenses are <50% of household income
5. Invest wisely when possible and take the long approach
6. Take moderate risks, only when we can afford to lose them

Sound good there Dad?

My mindset is a taaaaad bit different...

I'd want all these kinda people.. who have spent good and enjoyed the peak period of thier lives...

ya.. but when they are at this stage in life.. they look back and learn lessons... that is really great.... cause it helps them live their present scenario...

although... just look back... and there will be a smile on your face... u'd admire those days and love them and miss them.... u'd talk fondly about it too...

and

then one would never regret of doing what was done....

One motto in life..

""""Live life King size"""" ... every king has either a huge, or a tiny territory.... but after all you are the king of your's

no truer lessons here, i myself have been blessed i must say.spoiled with poverty as a youth i did learn to keep myself entertained reading and exploring the desert around me.(lived in az for 31 years).later on in life (fairly recently) i was blessed with a home that was paid off,and a decent career that only just came to a halt.i try to keep a healthy respect for being poor,i filled the freezer with game (quail rabbit and fish)and have the skill to get more , still hoping for deer one of these days(tough getting a tag these days.anyhow i like to here others perspectives as it is good to keep an open mind.again i try not to be negative but it seems everything is somewhat of a crapshoot these days , aw shoot i voted i can complain.i forsee after the new election a bit of a uprising in spending for a few months maybe less then a sudden decline as it is realize that the outflow was never really there, now i am no economist, and i pray i am totaly wrong but in my eyes we are headed for a depression of historic proportions, perhaps i have some hidden suvivalist personality but i just dont see any political magic tricks curing our nations problems. i pray our country doesnt fold in on itself and civil disputes become personal wars between the numerous factions existent throughout the u.s.
O.K. call me paranoid but MLK JFK and lots of others previous and after ,well they dont seem like just minor accidents.i know i know theories abound but what better way to hide the truth than to tell it.
sorry went off on a tangent.
personally i am happy go lucky , livin and lovin,(flyin to LA to see my girlie this thur. in fact) but it is so hard to pretend that the roses dont have thorns.
hmmm brings to mind a phrase from somewhere >better to ask forgiveness than permission<
whooo way off topic huh?

Well said and very well grounded too Louis!

How can ayone learn to appreciate a "great steak dinner" if they have not lived for a time on lesser means"?

If you wish to hear my thoughts, we are past-due for a social-economic crisis not seen since the 1930's. Our nation has lost its moral compass and moorings and we need a wake-up call. It is coming, but I do not know when. There are too many in the lower 3/4 of the economic ladder and too few in the top 5%.

Why? Because it is part of human history repeating a lesson we just don't want to learn from. "Power corrupts and total power currupts totally".

Anyway, enjoy your time away and when you get back in the groove, shoot some pics of your new ideas and what would be done better on the next go-round. Give us the dos and don'ts as you see them Okay?
