So I'm about to hook up my Hifonics Bxi 1208 to my 15" L7 and i was wondering if a 4 gauge power akoustic kit will do the job? I know power akoustic isnt the best brand, but wires are wires right? Replies (5) raiders98 on 10/22/2008 14:08:53 Nevermind, I read that there actually alot smaller then they claim. I'm gonna try walmart :/ swez on 10/25/2008 04:17:48 This amp can be pretty strong at 1 or 2 ohm loads. HiFonics suggest #4 wire for power and grounds. Since this is a smaller truck, the power line feed will be under 20 feet long and minimal voltage drop. All wire is not created the same. The better wires have very low ohmic resistance at 10-20 feet in length. If you have not purchased a wiring kit yet, consider "Street Wires" or www.Knukonceptz.com offerings. Both are quality wiring products and good hardware choices too. Swez PS If you plan on adding another amp later for the Mid/Highs, you'll need to use larger wire and a D-block to power them. raiders98 on 10/26/2008 06:41:00 Thanks for the info. I ended up buying one from walmart and it is very nice actuaslly. I got one question though, when i hooked up my l7 it sounded good and it was really loud, but after a lil whil;e there was like a rattling sound coming from the inside of the speaker. But after a while i couldnt hear it anymore. Any ideas of what it is? swez on 10/26/2008 07:31:45 Well, it's hard to tell w/o actually hearing the noise personally. Keep a close watch on this one. The sub needs to break in for a while and after ~10 hours moderate use, you should not hear anything but clean, clear bass tones. If there are noises later, you'll have to do some diagnostic checks to determine if it's the box, the sub or perhaps the hook-up wires need to be adjusted. It was built to be ported but we never did it, I think it sounds pretty good. Is it bad to have such a big sealed box. BTW its an L7 15" Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
