I have the following items ready to install, alpine cda 7969 hu, audiobahn aeq5 line driver, alpine mrv-t503 2 channel 200x2, alpine mrv-f705 4 channel 85x4, coustic xm6 electronic crossover, infinity kappa 63.5 6.5's f, kappa 462.5 4x6 plates r, 2 kappa perfect 10.1 subs, 2 kicker rmb 8's mid bass, 2 kicker r 5's mid range, I took the rear seat out of my extended cab and built a box. The 10's rear fire, the 8's front fire and the 5's are on top. I got a great deal on the 8's and 5's and would like to incorporate them with the amps I have but not sure exactly how. I was going to have the 4 channel amp power f and r . I wanted to put the other amp on a toggle switch. Then I could flip the switch to turn on the other amp for the ten,8 and 5's Am I going to need another amp to power the 2 8's and the 2 5's? Would that be the best solution?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch, TJ

assuming the amp is a 2 ohm stable and all your speakers are 4ohm each-you should be able to run your fronts and rears off of only 2 channels. you will lose fadeability this way though-leaving the other 2 free for others if you chose. There are a few different routs you can go.

I would however go for the second amp. why overwork your current equipment if what you really need is power for your spks.

My take on things so far

Depends on what your goals are.... seems the 4 channel will be the right amp for your Mids/Highs in the cabin. The 8's would be nice for midbass, run off the rear channels in conjunction with the plates off the 4 channel as well.

To do this well... you'd need a crossover on the plates at say 300 Hz and the midbass 8's get the rest below that to say 50-60 Hz. This nets a nice 3-way design in the rear cabin area.

Can run the front stage... Kappa 6.5's off the front channel of the 4 channel amp as that's a no brainer right? Set HP filter on amp to ~80 Hz.

Then, power your subs off the 2 channel amp. The only thing that is lacking here, is that the 10.1 is a 4 ohm SVC design. The amp will do 2 ohms per channel in stereo mode for max power. If you bridge the amp, 4 ohms is the lowest this amp can take in MONO.

NOTE: There is a way to run the 8's and 10's off the sub amp. However, not sure how much power the 8's can take and you'd need to use a pair of bandpass crossover networks here. The 10's will be great at 35-80 Hz (give or take a few Hz) and the 8's may need a bandpass filter that nets say 80 - 300 Hz. (midbass only) These filters are tricky and you would probably have to build your own from a kit.

As for the 5" midrange speakers... for simplicity, delete these from the install list.

Say more about your thoughts on what you think on both post details and we'll take it from there.
