guys i have a little project here and need a little help.. i have a old school orion hcca 10" which im gonna power off a atomic 3000rms class d. using a single kinetic HC 1800 on stock 80A alty and 0ga big 3. this is all gonna be stuffed into a nissan station wagon.

so its for iasca competition.. looking at the rookie or stock 1 category. depending on the output that i will get in order to win me a trophy.. dunno if u guys familiar with iasca rules with regards to these categories.. vevicles resonant freq is 47 hz i believe

problem... i need help with an optimal enclosure that would be best suited for this sub.. not to play music but score high on the meter..

also any help with sound dampening techniques if possible..

any assist would be appreciated.. thanks!

bandpass design tuned in a pass band around 47Hz.... dunno if its allowed in the competetion....

Vr=1cu.ft

Vf=1.25 cu.ft, Dp = 4" Lp = 10"

by the way is that orion sub a 2ohm or a 4 ohm dvc and i doubt it has a rms rating of 3000watts.. everywhere on the internet i see 1500wrms and 3000 peak... and the amplifier is

# RMS power handling---1000w @ 4 ohms @14.4V
# RMS power handling---2000w @ 2 ohms @14.4V
# RMS power handling---3200w @ 1 ohms @14.4V

.. and that stock alt and batt combo will take you no where in a competition... u will drain the battery in no time.. specially if youre playing 47Hz at full volumes, it will demand a lot of power... and probably after you finish the competetion you will have to ask someone around u to help start your car....

well wrt play time all i need is a 3 second "burp" playing a test tone to get my score. the sub is dual 2. amp 1 ohm stable.

wrt to power 3 seconds @ double power should leave the sub intact.

will a bandpass design yeild more output in terms of dB vs a simpler ported enclosure?

yes +3 to +6db for sure...
