How do you remove the door panels on a 2004 f-150 supercrew to replace the factory speakers? Thanks Replies (2) swez on 10/1/2008 12:01:07 The door panels have metal clips and you have to find them sytematically to release them as they are found. (Gentle prying with a flathead screwdriver is often adequate) If the doors have power locks and windows, these have electrical harnesses that must be removed as well. (They have clips as well and few hidden fasteners) Once you have the front door panels loose, lift them up and out of the window tracks with care. Getting them back in takes patience and a delicate touch. After that, you will find 6x8" Ovals in the front doors. The rear panels are similar and 6x8" ovals are in the rear side panels too. Just go easy on the panels until you find the clips. Once you find them all, the panels come off easily. What do you plan to install after the panels are removed? Swez iclimb76 on 10/1/2008 16:15:52 Thanks for the quick reply. I'm swapping the factory speakers with JBL GT series 51/4" componets in the front and mids in the rear. My truck is the lariat package with the premium sound package. I was able to take the grill looking plastic of the front doors and actually found that the factory speakers are already 51/4" with the tweets mounted up higher. It looks like getting to the tweets may be more difficult and I may still need to remove the whol door panel. It looks like the rear has the same grill type cover that can be removed but it seemed to be a lot harder and i di not want to break anything. I'm replacing the factory 8" sub with a GT series JBL 8" as well. I need to build a custom box for that so I'm sure I will have more questions once I'm able to get all the stuff and get to work. I do want to keep my factory deck so I still have use of my sterring wheel controls so I believe I need a signal prosseser. If you or anyone has some good advise I sure would appreciate it.
