What's the best configuration/ f-150 extended cab

I am looking to add some low end sound to my 1999 f-150 extended cab. I currently am looking at the Pioneer GM-5300T amp and trying to decide on whether to go with two 8"s or two 10"s. I am not trying to blow the doors off like I used to just a good clear thump that you can feel (but not damage my ears forever, I have enough damage from the past). The amp is rated at 190wx2 at 2 ohms and I am having trouble figuring out the best subs to buy that would allow me to run the amp at 2 ohms. I have looked at many wiring diagrams but am still confused as to what ohm speakers to buy 2, 4, 8 and how many voice coils. Using two channels with an 8 ohm dvc sub can I wire each sub (one to each channel) in parallel to achieve the 2 ohm? What about using svc subs, which ohm woofer should I buy?

I listen to mainly heavy metal and rap r&b. Which sub 8" or 10" would provide the best thump and accuracy for both? What type of enclosure should I build (Ported/sealed)?

It has been many, many years since I played around with car stereos so please go gentle.

it mightbe easier to run a single sub setup with this amp and bridge it a 4ohm load..

Thank you for the sugesstion. Looking at the mounting depth of 5 1/16" I don't think I will be able to fit it under the seat without a lift kit $104.

I have a buget of less than $500 for an amp and sub/subs any recommendations with the additional info. I've looked at the ProBox/Thunderform,etc.. and do not know If I can afford one of those with a decent amp to push them.

"ProBox Rocks" offers several great solutions to consider. Installed a 10" ported sub for a customer in his 2003-04? F-150 Super Crew, under the rear seat and powered it with a JL Slash 500/1 amp. Wow... is all we could say about the final results!

OK, so you don't have a JL amp. But with help from ProBox, the premium price is worth the form, fit and performance. Yes, it was that good!

PS For this amp, you'll need a 4 ohm sub and bridge the amp MONO.

I just got talking to the local spund store guys and they also recommended a single 10" Pioneer ts-w302r and the gm-3300 amp. they had a similar setup in a truck they were working on and it did not sound big enough for me. What are my choices to get bigger sound out of a smaller space? buy a slimline sub that will handle higher power? will two high powered 8" woofers give me a bigger sound than the one pioneer that they recommended?

Thanks for all the help so far. Now that I am older I am a little more particular. Back in the day we would just build a box throw it in the back seat and be done with it.

calculating my space for the box measurements I can get about 1.0 cubic feet

I am also trying to contact ProBox to see if I can get a box for a 99 f-150. They don't have them listed on the website.

Slimline or shallow subs still need large enclosures to do the job. The space you have now has to be fitted to a sub that works in limited spaces.

"ProBox" is one possible answer, but knowing more about your actual space limits could help us help you. Do you have some max dimensions to guide us? There are some great 8's or 10's that might work, but we have to work outside the obvious.

OK I spoke with proboxrocks and they don't make any boxes for the 99 f-150. He said if they still had the pattern he would run it, but it would cost me too much. decided to do some looking and found a company called LMI welding that make rear seat lift kits for the f-150, so I ordered one to get more room.

After the 3" lift of the rear seat I will custom make a box. Preliminary measurements will allow me a total 1.62 cu ft. Crutchfield had Polk Audio MM 2104 10"'s buy one get one free so I decided to order them. I will be pushing them with an Alpine MRP-M450.

Now I must decide whether to build the box in a downfire position or the woofers facing up. The box will be sealed. Any suggestions or recommendations on the best way to build the enclosure.

All the help so far has been wonderfull.

The lift kit will help. Once that is installed, take some careful measurments so you know just how much space is actually available.

Once the external dimensions are verified, then consider shopping for sub(s) that fit that space.

The package mentioned earlier should net a nice SQL Bass Engine. Polk makes some great speakers and at 0.66 cf sealed per chamber, that should do the job.

This Alpine amp is good and you can go a tad larger if desired. (500 - 600 RMS) but not needed.

Would you recommend going with the Sony XM-1S over the Alpine amp listed above? It would give me 500 RMS vs 400.

Not really... Sony products for Car Audio are not what they used to be. Alpine is a solid choice and 100 watts more power is not a big deal. In this case, I'd stand pat on the Alpine.
