Hi i am new to the board, I was wondering, how that the ohm's from the amp to the speakers worked. for example if this will help any. You have two 4ohm dvc speakers, they are wired parallel to bring them to 1ohm, but the amp at its max load will only do 4ohms, how does that work do the speaker ohms override the amp and mess it up, or what happens, as far as what everything is pulling ohm and power wise? hope this makes sense i know it is confusing thanks! Replies (4) kirchatndftbl on 09/10/2008 07:38:29 welcome to CK! amp should only be wired to their stable ohm loads, depending on the amp it can anywhere from 1, 2, and 4 ohms if wired to a lower ohm level than the amp is stable at it can cause the amp to be damaged im sure one of the golds here can explain it better here is a few wiring diagrams you can look at http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t33 swez on 09/10/2008 08:11:06 Say more about the subs and amp used in this system. It "sounds like" a 2 channel amp, (Bridged MONO) and it's not stable below 4 ohms. Please give the amp & subs make & model #'s. With that info, we can help you figure out the best way to wire the system you now have on hand. Swez PS Welcome to CK! They are MA Audio subs. I was all so wondering what some of the better and best subs and amps to buy, and what you all think about audiobahn, and MA Audio thanks! swez on 09/11/2008 10:25:41 The easiest way to wire your MA Subs to this Bahn amp would be to wire each sub for 2 ohms, (Both coils in parallel) and use the amp in 2 channel mode. ( 200 Wrms per sub) The other option is to wire your MA subs in Series/Parallel for a net 4 ohm load and bridge the amp to Mono. (The results are the same per sub) Bahn amps are rated accurately, but the $'s per watt are not a great value. Is this amp usable? Yes, but a Class A/B amp is not as efficient as Class D amps of similar wattage. (Draws more current than a Class D amp of the same or greater output) Will this amp work with your MA subs? Yes... but wiring the subs correctly is the bottom line. Comments/Questions? Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
