need to re-mount subs

My mother in-law has this 94 jeep wrangler. I put 2 12" subs in it. She likes to drive ruff so i want to re-mount the subs to where they can absorb the ride without damage. Also any ideas on making it water resistant? So if it starts to rain it won't screw up the system.

Welcome to CK!

Consider using some 3" thick foam padding to under the sub box and maybe on the back side to dampen the bounce. Adding a ratcheting type hold down strap to keep it in place when off roading will help if you don't compress the foam padding more than 50%.

As for water retardant, if the box is bare wood, epxoy-based or polyurathane-based paints will do a good job keeping the box dry. Vinyl covering works too.

To keep the subs dry, best to cover them with a water proof cover like those used on BBQ grills or remove the box entirely on bad days.

I would also put some type of grill to protect the subs. I had my subs w/o a grill in front of them and I used to put a lot of crap in my trunk and with the box also jumping arround. It happened that a piece of pipe went right through my sub. After that I tied the box down and put a grill in front of the new one.
