So I found this Old Amp...

For entertainment's sake the brand name and model # will remain undisclosed. :) The front of the amp reads 100w x 1 Mosfet power 4 Multi-channel amplifier. No credible source of documentation can be found for said amplifier other than a single privately listed ebay auction that says this amp produces 400w X 1 and fails to mention at what ohmic resistance it offers 400w.

I'm given a single pioneer TS-W10C to run off of the mentioned amplifier. This is a SVC 4ohm subwoofer and is rated at 120w @ a 4ohm nominal impedence.

How should I wire this subwoofer to gain optimal performance, while making sure that the system is stable?

There are 3 things you can do to test & verify the amps' output abilities:

1. Count up the fuse(s) values and do some quick math: (Rough est.)

2x25 fuses = 50A's
50 x 14.4 =720 watts consumed
720 x 0.6 = 432 watts/4 = 108 watts output per channel @ 2 ohms/ch.

2. Hook up the amp to a power source and audio inputs

a. Use a 50 Hz test tone, ideal for subs
b. Set amp gain to loudest and clean bass tone possible
c. Grab an AC volt meter and read the voltage off the output terminals w/ sub connected (Volts x Volts/4 ohms = RMS watts)

3. Repeat step 2, but bridge 2 channels to the 4 ohm sub

We use variants of Ohm's Law to determine Watts, Volts, Resistance and Current. If we know 2 fixed parameters, we can calculate all 4, using Ohm's Law.
