alright, i wanna go a little bit bigger, right now i have two 12" jbl's, im selling those, and i only want to replace them with one woofer... Is the Polk 15" MM2154DVC a good one to buy? I cant afford a very big amp, but i can get an 800w. amp easy, I was just wondering if this is a good buy... I can get one of these for about $120 What do ya guys think? Is this a stupid decision? or is it worth it? thanks Replies (2) newB on 08/29/2008 17:05:29 I'd go with DC www.dcsoundlab.com Fi www.ficaraudio.com or RE www.reaudio.com and look for their entry level 15s, you will be very happy. -Drew swez on 08/30/2008 02:50:07 The Polk 15" mentioned is good up to 400 watts RMS and is a 4+4 DVC. The price on this woofer has dropped a lot this year and a real good deal here: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7099_Polk+Audio+MOMO+MM2154DVC.html?gclid=CJnluN_ktZUCFQVxFQodTU-yRA This sub is best used in a 1.5 cf sealed enclosure. It does have a high efficiency rating of 90dB @ 1/w, 1m (2.83 volts) The right amp would be a 400-500 Wrms @ 2 ohms rated Class D model. Since this is a sealed sub design, no need for a Subsonic Filter network. The subs mentioned by Drew are definitely a step up in performance, power handling and price. These would be considered "investment grade" subs and depending on your budget, they may be out of reach. Swez PS Once you get in the 400-500 watt range amps, electrical upgrades may be needed. When going above that, electrical upgrades do factor into your overall costs. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
