Is it possible to run 3 Rockford 12" p2 subs off of one Class D Amp? Current setup is a single Rockford 12" p2 and a Rockford p300-1 to power it.. Can someone please give me a suggestion for an amp? Replies (4) swez on 08/24/2008 10:04:38 Welcome back iXvXi P2 subs in 3's are OK. These are 4+4 DCV's and each sub needs to be wired as an 8 ohm sub. (Both coils in series = 8 ohms) Then all 3 subs wired in parallel to amp = 2.67 ohms The P300-1 is a not the most efficient, (Class A/B) amp for the power rating noted. (300 Wrms @ 2 ohms) A Class D amp with more RMS power will give more watts and the same current draw. Consider the Alpine MRP-M650 as an alternate to the RF amp. It can deliver almost 200 watts per sub (600 RMS @ 2 ohms) and draws the same current at full power as the RF P300-1. (Under 60 Amperes of current draw at full power) The Alpine M650 will match your F250 and should look pretty nice after mounting. http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6471_Alpine+MRP-M650.html ($200.00) The Infinity 5010CS are a good match for your Alpine F250 in 2 channel bridge mode. This amp will deliver up to 100 x 2 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per channel. The Ref's are rated at 75 RMS per each. As for power management, if you have say an 85A stock ALT and use a H.O. battery, (~700 CCA rated) that should keep light dimming to a minimum. Use #4 main power cable to a D-block and a pair of #8 wires to each amp and grounds. Buy enough #4 cable/ to do the "Big 3 Wiring Upgrade" under the hood and you should be good to go. Read this link in close detail and follow the steps as noted. Many don't fuse the ALT + wire to Battery + terminal. The stock ALT will like it and the internal regulator will prevent over-current flow back to the battery. http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/312025/page/1 Any questions? Swez iXvXi on 08/24/2008 15:19:55 Thanks swez...You see, this is why clubknowledge is the best website on the net for straight up answers..you simply answered my question with a wonderful response..thanks (very appreciated) ... I believe my stock alternator is a 105A..and will look into the Big three with the additional fuse.. I will post a battery to check and see if its good enough for the setup before I buy... and thanks..its good to be back iXvXi on 08/24/2008 15:25:08 also is it a better decision to go for 4 p2's or stick with the 3? swez on 08/24/2008 23:35:17 Stick with 3 subs if you go with the P2's. They are rated at 250 RMS per each. With the Alpine amp mentioned, they'll get about 180 watts each and that's enough to get them thumping. As for the battery upgrade, if the stock/present battery is less than 3 years old, try it and see how that goes after the Big 3 Upgrade. If the battery is over 3-4 years old now, it will probably need to be replaced sooner or later anyway. (Buy only what is needed) Glad you like CK forum.
