i have kicker 08ZX4502 and a subwoofer audiopipe 1600 watts some kind of old one prob8-10 yrs old jus got a new alternator now it kicks off at any volume im been up all night tell u more when i wake up Replies (7) kirchatndftbl on 08/20/2008 04:42:50 is this sub single or dual voice coil?? and what ohms are these subs?? sounds like the sub could be too low of an ohmic load for the amp to handle so the amp shuts off how is the sub wired to the amp?? terrychamp01 on 08/20/2008 07:44:48 dual voice coil 2 ohm 15 inch subwoofer Ash on 08/20/2008 08:13:11 Without knowing the exact model # of the sub and going by your description, would it be safe to assume the sub is 2 ohms per coil? Or do you mean that it is 2 ohms when wired parallel? If not the latter, you should be wiring in series for this one as that amp is only 4 ohm stable mono with a rated 450 rms output. Don't know how good of a match power wise for that sub rating would most likely be peak. Could be anywhere in continuous. Hopefully the kicker amp is at least over, but no less than half of the Audiopipe's continuous power rating for better performance. If possible give the exact model # for the sub and state wattage in continuous only whenever posting here so we can give accurate data. Don't recognize the name, but if you're new here.... Welcome to CK! terrychamp01 on 08/20/2008 10:23:44 txx dc 1500 1600watts it says terrychamp01 on 08/20/2008 14:01:38 i got one dual voice coil hooked up to my amp know it doesnt kick off terrychamp01 on 08/20/2008 16:00:49 i do have a kicker cvr 1000 watts rms but the speaker wire from the speaker to ther voice coil keeps breakin apart is there a way to fix this swez on 08/20/2008 19:18:53 If the coil wire separated at the terminal post, it can be soldered back on and should work fine if the coil wire has enough slack to allow the cone to extend fully. Use 60/40 alloy solder. If the wire is separated at the voice coil, (Under the dust cap) in most cases, the sub is trashed as this is a very difficult fix that often does not last under hard use.
