hey whats up i have 2 aw1200eu audiobahn there 4+4 700 watts a woofer i wanted to know whats the perfect amp to push these subs Replies (3) swez on 08/2/2008 22:10:56 I would not recommend over 1200 watt RMS to the pair of Bahn subs mentioned. They are notorious for failure and not the most robust subs out there. A Class D amp that can deliver a solid 1000 -1200 watts RMS @ 1 ohm loads would be a very good choice. Since the subs are ported, the amp will need a Subsonic/Infrasonic filter to protect your subs as well. Amps in this range will pull 80-100 amperes of current at full power. That is at the top range of #4 gage power cable and ground. What is your budget for the new amp? Based on that, we can try to find a few amps that come close to a reasonable budget. Swez rayray_12000 on 08/3/2008 02:58:52 my budget would be about 150.00 swez on 08/3/2008 04:33:34 That budget # would put you at E-bay for shopping and bidding on something like these: (Or a used/refurb amp from a reputable dealer) http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18417 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=19580 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18179 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4199 FYI: The subs are rated at 700 watts RMS per each. A good Class D amp that can deliver ~600 watts RMS per sub is a very good fit. There is minimal audible difference between 500-700 watts RMS per sub. The big difference is power consumption! That 1.5 Farad Surge Cap is pretty much a useless piece of auto jewlery. The better route would be a 2nd Battery near the amp to store power and deliver as needed to a high wattage amplifier. That may be on the back burner until you can get some cash in hand, but a much better option than the Surge Cap by far. Good luck and save your $$$ until a quality amp is secured, Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
