Hey installers, need a little input before diving into a project for my daughter's car. She has a Toyota Celica GT and JVC aftermarket HU to power them. Currently, she has a set of 4 Infinity Ref 6.5" rounds and all but one are blown by her step brother? She has the stock speakers on hand now and am thinking of installing them in place of the blown Refs. Questions: 1. The front door speakers are mounted in the lower door panels and the stock grill covers are in place. Can I just remove the grills to swap the front door speakers back to the OEM ones we have on hand, or do we have to remove the entire door panels to access them? 2. The rear speakers are also 6.5" rounds with speakers mounted in the side panels in the back seat. The stock grills are there in side panels and am wondering if the side panels have to be removed or just the stock grill covers to replace the rear speakers? Any comments to save time and get a good result would be most helpful. Swez COFFEE Replies (1) swez on 07/27/2008 07:29:50 Never mind... we solved the problem. All 4 Infinity Refs work just fine and were installed a few years back by Circus City. The problem was in the HU setup menu. Once we tinkered with the BAL/FADE control settings, all speakers worked just fine. My guess is that when playing this system at high volume, the internal amps would heat up and shut down. We tested things at moderate to loud settings and all was just fine. (Kids... no wonder I have grey hair!) Whew, dodged that bullit as it's been hot all weekend and the last thing I wanted to do was bake like a lobster, installing new speakers.
