Why are boxes chambered? Do they have to be chambered? Replies (2) swez on 07/14/2008 00:50:27 Chambers work well in sealed and ported designs for 2 main reasons: 1. Each woofer has it's own air space. If we don't use chambers and one sub blows, the remaining woofer is now working in a larger airspace, the remaining woofer will probably fail eventually as well. 2. Chambers also provide an internal brace to keep larger panels from rattling or resonating when the subs are playing at high power levels. Got all that?
